The Best You Can Buy!
Researched in ground fence systems extensively and purchased the SportDog system for my ¾ acre property. Glad I did. Easy to install with quality hardware........unlike other systems I looked at. Purchased primarily for our Lab puppy, but also purchased two smaller compatible collars for our two miniature wiener dogs. It maybe took a day or so for all of our dogs to associate the flags with the boundary. System has multiple settings, so you can set a vibration, beep, then mild shock. I think our dogs were shocked once each. Now, when they get close to the boundary flags, the (non-shocking) vibration is enough to alert them to turn around. $220 is a bargain for the peace of mind in knowing that my dogs will stay in the yard.

Does the job!
I have a Labrador retriever who is about 4 months old and an adult boston terrier. We had trouble with them going to neighbors houses to get petted, or the boston would run after other dogs in the neighborhood. So, we decided to go with this underground fence after extensive research of other brands. I'm very satisfied with our purchase- the installation took about 3-4 hours total.We installed the fence on approximately 3/4 of an acre. My husband used his tractor and lowered 1 of the 4 plow feet on a box blade attachment to dig the trench around the yard. This was VERY simple and took about 20 minutes. Then we just placed the wire in the trench and buried it, which took about an hour and a half or so. Take note, we had to twist wire back to the box across a spot in our yard so the dogs could run across it without getting shocked. We also had to place it across our driveway, so my husband used a skill saw with a masonry blade to cut a line across it. After laying the wire...

Two different dogs two different stories!
I have two medium size mutts. Chase is laid back but loves to run and play and Rufus is a very timid and scared of alot.First off let me say this make sure the range is adjusted on the box before putting the batteries in the collars. My husband was holding the collar in his hand inside the house (far away from the lines) and got shocked on the 5th level! Ouch! We readjusted the range to two feet from the line and truned the collar down to level 2 after that.I think the range came out of the box set on 40 feetI took chase out on a leash and let him lead me to the perimiter rather than me taking him over there and tossing a toy or treat across the line like youre instructed too. It only took him 2 times of trying to cross over the fence before he realized that he didnt wanna go anywhere near those flags. He LOVES playing fetch but you better believe if that ball goes NEAR that fence he will NOT even try to go get it! We did have one incident the other day where...

way better than expected
I bought this after having a company come out and quoted a price of $1,583 to install a wireless fence. We have a little over half an acre and there was more than enough included wire to install. I rented a gas edger at Ace for $23 for a couple hours. And used a thin piece of plastic to push the wire in the slot from the edger. I was very leary of doing it myself but didn't want to spend the money having it done. And I'm glad I did because installing this thing was so easy I couldn't believe it. Now as far as effective it WORKS! Our black lab was very easy to train. In a week of walking her around the yard showing her the flags she figured it out. She is also a lot more laid back in the yard. Instead of chasing birds and rabbits she now sits there and watches them. I recommend this product to everyone. The collar takes regular 9 volt batteries so no special ordering and paying an arm and a leg for them. However I would not use it on a very small dog because the collar...

Perfect Design
They really thought of everything with this one! I love the added vibration feature on the collar as an additional warning to the dog. I've had and used many other systems throughout the various homes I've owned, but this is the most comprehensive system yet.The collar unit is a bit large, but that's necessary to acccomodate the 9-Volt Battery. Which is great because battery replacement isn't a problem!!!

I wish we would have bought it sooner
This review may be a bit premature because I only finished the fence and started training yesterday, however, I must say that I am extremely pleased with both the product and the results that it has had for our two yellow Labrador retrievers. They have quickly learned what their boundaries are and won't even go near the line of flags outlining their outer limits.The system is comprehensive in that just about everything is adjustible from the range of the boundary to the level of correction and even the type of correction. I have the collars set on 2, the lowest correction and it's more than enough for our Labs to get the idea that once the collar starts to buzz and beep that a static correction is not far behind.When they say that the system comes with everything you need, they mean it. It comes with 1000 feet of wire - if I ever need to replace my fence I have more than enough line to do the whole perimiter again, about 15,000 sq ft. You don't have to buy...

really works
We purchased this system due to the fact that we have 5 acres of open land and lots of neighboring cows for our dogs to chase. With my 2 older dogs, who have always been able to run loose, we took about two weeks of training them as instructed. They had no problem in learning. We then brought a young dog to our home who had always been enclosed in a yard with chain link fencing. Trained one very briefly, on lowest setting it ran thru boundary fencing, turned up the power, and along with the flags, the dog never ventures near boundary. Two very young strays, with whom we could not train due to the fact that they would not do the leash....put the collars on them, they accidentally went into boundary, with our visual supervision over a period of about a week, and they did not attempt doing that again. We then had to put boundary fencing around the area of where we park our cars, due to the destructive natures of the younger dogs who scratched several cars chasing a cat, they do not...

Great System
I love the invisible fence system these people sell, it was easy to instal and maintain. My only gripe would be on the collars themselves. The screws absolutely suck. Maybe it is just my dogs or even me, but the screws get dirt/sand/debris lodged into the head of the screw and just underneath enough to make turning the screw a pain in the rear. When I need to change the battery, I try to clean the screws out to the best of my ability so I can get a screwdriver in. This is a pain and it seems like there should be a better way. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to let me know.

Not as pictured
Just came in the mail. I was expecting to receive the orange collar as pictured, but received a black one instead. I have 2 dogs and really was hoping to have 2 different colored collars. We haven't installed the fence yet, so I can rate how well the collar works.
