Amazing TV
I've had this set for almost 3 weeks, and I absolutely love it. The picture is amazing; I compared it to sets with 1080p, and I like the picture on this one better. The sound is also fantastic; loud, clear, and with several different settings for TV, movies, etc. Speaking of settings, the menus are easy to follow and allow you to set the picture just the way you like it. The remote is easy to use, and the only thing I don't like about it is that it has a slightly curved shape and tends to fall off the coffee table or sofa from time to time. Otherwise, I'm really happy. I did research for about a month and had a hard time deciding between this set and a Panasonic, but I'm glad I went with this one because it's fantastic. One other note---do not buy overpriced cables for this or any other set! I bought a $4 HDMI cable from Amazon and it works perfectly. Best Plasma Deal
I have tried to by a Plasma TV for 3 years now, but I always ended up with a LCD. I recently have been looking for either a Panasonic or Samsung 50" Plasma for either my office or bedroom. I have a 52" 650 series Samsung 1080p LCD in my Home theater Room that has great color, HD Detail and overall quality. I have done alot of research on Plasma TVs and found that the fore-mentioned brands above, are the best rated. I debated the 1080p VS 720p issue and came up with the truth that, 50" and below sizes,720p will give you as good a picture on HDTV as 1080p. Reason, most signals that are sent, are originally 720p anyway. If you are not using a blu-ray player often and if you are 4-5' away, you will tell no difference. Finally, almost a month ago, I got an email from Amazon that had the 2 brands on their Sales Ad. I really wanted to try the Panasonic Brand, but the best deal was on the Samsung. Quality TV for the price
I had been holding out for the 2010 42" Samsung Plamsa model to drop in price which I had been patiently watching since early November. When the price was still the same come March - I decided it wasn't getting any cheaper.When to my surprise Amazon wasn't offering Free Shipping on that TV any, I noticed the 2011 Samsung Plasma's were available and with free shipping - I actually go the new model (which is now +1" to 43")for cheaper than last years Plasma.Out of the box the TV appearance is a nice liquid glossy-black finish. Very thin TV - probably 1" deep in most spots (excluding where the mount attaches). The input panel required plugs to be plugged in horizontally - so expect to have to have a punch-panel or hole in the wall on the lower left side of the TV screen (lower left if facing the TV) to get the connections to hook-up. Why TV makers won't allow vertical input connections on TV's like this is beyond me.If not wall mounting it comes...

I bought this TV from Vann's, and it came with 2 pair of 3D glasses for free. Amazon use's Paul's TV as the primary seller and they are a very good company as well, so purchasing this TV through Amazon would have been my first choice, but Vann's had the better deal at the time.My TV arrived via Fed Ex freight on April 21, and I immediately un boxed it and put it in my bedroom. This TV is replacing an Vizio 37" 1080P LCD which was working fine, but I really wanted a 3D set!Initial Physical Impression was WOW. Very Sleek looking, much thinner than my Vizio, nice sturdy swiveling base, and has an almost Dark Cherry Touch of Color to it, which I was unaware of prior to purchasing but looks great with my Cherry Bedroom set.Performance: I have the TV hooked up to a PS3 with the most current software (3D...

What can I say - I am amazed and speechless !!This bad boy is huge - massive. I spent 3 days in my local Best Buy comparing the HIGH end LED TV's and LCDs to this Plasma. And somehow could not pass the price point. I also did a lot of research on Plasma's before I pulled the trigger. AVS forum is a good place. This TV is supposed to consume relatively low power compared to older Plasma with bills of only 28$ / year. It may be a tad more than LCD and LED's but I am not ready to pay 500$ just to save 10$ in electricity bills every year. The final decision was the 3D, a 51 inch 3D for 750$ - was a steal. Cannot beat that price.Pros -a. Beautiful Build, slim and elegant - much much better than any LCD I saw in store.b. Glass stand, and solid glass construction - feels awesome....c. Amazing Picture
Recieved this TV on April 26 directly from Samsung as a Replacement to a four year old DLP 3D 50" HLT series TV I had when it came out in 2007, all I had to do was caugh up $300 out of pocket, this TV is Great with both HiDef and Great with Standard def which cant be said of all HDTV's, I was comparing at J&R it to the 2011 Panansonics and this year I believe the 2011 Samsungs Plasma's blows the Pannys in their class out of the water!! The colors and the blacks just pop! I have a 7.1 surround system but this TV has pretty decent built in speakers much better than my old TV, I have not tried the 3D yet since I do not have the 3D glasses not sure if I will even buy them in the future. its a beautiful looking TV in terms of the thick All Glass Stand and the 51" slim Bezel at the J&R store I can barely tell the diff between this 720p set and the more Expensive 1080p version.

Love My Samsung!
I picked up the Samsung 51" D550 from Sears on the 12th. I'd only discovered the TV online a couple hours before buying it. Always wanted a Samsung and once I saw it in the store, I was sold. Had to have it.Received a pair [2] of Samsung's new 3100 3D glasses. [Will write a separate review for those.] Beware, this TV is HUGE. I swear, it didn't look this big in the store.Picture Quality is outstanding. Break-in isn't necessary. I ran slides for a day before using the TV regularly. No IR at all. Blacks are deep and rich, Colors are rich and life-like. I haven't had it professionally calibrated, just using settings I've found on the AVS forum and tweaking them to my likes.Settings are very, very customizable. SD programs are good. Soft at times but very watchable. Of course, HD/Blu-Ray/DVD content is out of this world. Audio is surprisingly excellent. Very clear and loud. I rarely go up above 11.Also no buzzing. The best you can get for under a grand
I was in the market to upgrade from a 37" LCD and after much deliberation, soul searching, and navel gazing I decided that the PN51D550's size and features were too good to pass up. I'm not really a 3D kinda guy but I have two young kids so the inclusion of that particular bell and whistle was non-negotiable. Considering that Amazon had it for around $950.00 including shipping, well that was just too good to pass up. Log into the account, whip out the credit card, light a novena candle to ensure safe shipping and hope for the best (and it shipped just fine.)So far I've had this machine for about a week and I must say I've been relieved and ecstatic at my decision. I'm about fifty hours into breaking in the thing (I know, I know, unnecessary perhaps but I'd much rather err on the side of caution) and it's been a love affair from the get go. Great 3D TV for the money!
After doing extensive research, my wife and I decided on this TV. For under $1k, it was one of the cheapest 3D plasma on the market from a reputtable company. It also has cheaper 3D glasses as well compare to others. While most 3D glasses costs around $150 per pair, it was only $50 per pair for this Samsung from Amazon or other retailers. We have watched regular 2D movies to 3D and everything is great! It even does a great job of converting regular 2D movies/shows into 3D. I could not have asked for a better TV at this price.One feature that I really love about this TV is that it has an anti-burn program which prevents burn in. I did not know that this TV had this feature until after I bought it which is big plus since I sometimes play a little video game with the PS3. Another really nice feature is that it will automatically detect when you have a 3D signal and change the screen to the 3D setting. This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:

	A Display First, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.
	A Source Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.
	3D Content 3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.
	3D Glasses For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands.

Fantastic set!
Just received the TV today! It arrived a day early, which was a pleasant surprise. Once I fired it up, I was ecstatic with this set. The quality is amazing for the price, the picture blows away a top of the line 42" 1080p LCD display that I've seen. Deep rich colors, high contrast, fluid motion...there is nothing not to like! Streamed Spartacus off Netflix, and compared to my old little 22" LCD it really came to life.(Even if the writing is really bad)It was able to find some basic cable channels in HD, which is awesome, and Modern Warfare 2 looks simply astounding (again, much better than on aforementioned 42" and 22" LCDs.)The sound is decent, it's actually better than I was expecting. It's obviously no Home Theatre, but I was impressed. It's got a few connections which aren't listed on Amazon...the 3 HDMI, 1 PC, 1 USB, 1 Component, 1 Dual Component/Composite, Audio In 1/8", Audio Out 1/8", Optical out, and cable. Amazing TV
I am truly impressed with this TV. I have been researching LCD and Plasmas for a little while and found this to be the best HDTV for the price. I had a chance to check it out at a local retailer beforehand and compared to other TVs in the store this one completely stood out. Picture was MUCH better than the 1080 models which were more than twice the price. The Sony next to it showed people with grey suits while this one had deep black and vibrant color. The specs (2million:1 contrast, 600hz) blow away anything I could find in this range and the picture is simply fantastic. Plus you can't beat this price!I ordered this TV on a Tuesday night, received it on Thursday and the guy brought it to my door(4th floor walkup in NYC). I guess Beach Camera should receive the credit there.Set it up and the TV was able to find a bunch of HD channels and channels I didn't have before, so that's a big plus. I have to say, like the other review, installing the stand was a pain...

Nice tv so far....
Changing my review to 5 stars... This thing is used easily 14 hours a day with our family profile. It looks as great as the day i bought it 5 months ago...Update: It's now been over a month, and I am still happy. Picture is great, brightness and contrast are excellent! Internal speakers are weak, but I have a surround system anyway. Still loving this thing for the price...We bought this TV 2 weeks ago and so far so good... I bought the extended warranty just in case. For picture quality all I can say is WOW!!!! Gorgeous!!! A bit limited on input ports but has enough for me. It does give off a bit of heat, but all plasmas seem to do that. My last Samsung DLP lasted 5 years before the bulb went out. Trusting for similar reliability here. The screen is high gloss so some glare problems can exist, depends on your room, and light and window placement...

While operational, it was great!
I found the feature set of this hdtv just the ticket for what I was looking for. I was looking for a thin bodied hdtv for bluray and hi-def sports viewing, basically a no frills, quality hdtv viewing experience.With 2 hdmi ports, a usb port, ybr connections, and a coaxial input, I give a thumbs up to connectivity (some might need more hdmi inputs, but I'm happy with two).The picture quality is fantastic, very nice deep blacks, and no image flicker to speak of. The 600hz refresh rate produces a beautiful, full and detailed image.I found the tv user interface to be straight forward, easy to learn, and easy to use. The menu is very soft on the eyes, and is no ways invasive or annoying.Even the tv volume indicator is well thought out; the readout bar appears vertically on the left side of the screen (which does not block subtitles or sports programming with bottom scrolling tickers) and displays just long enough to view the output yet disappears...

Misleading Specs but Great Picture
The technical specifications listed on the Samsung website for this TV are completely misleading and incorrect. The website claims there are (2) USB ports in reality there is only (1). Website claims that there are (2) component video inputs in reality there is only (1). Website claims there is a PC input and audio mini jack input in reality there is none. I contacted Samsung directly to address the issue. They reviewed a picture of the back of this TV & also looked at their website and agreed. They had no explanation for the misleading specs and would not commit to making any changes to the website.That being said, the picture quality is great, the best I've seen. So if you don't care about misleading manufacturer specs and only need a few inputs, buy this TV. Otherwise I would invest my money elsewhere.
