The Author Has Pegged It Right On!
I downloaded a trial of "A Walk In The Snark" and within 10 minutes, I just had to purchase the rest. I was laughing and rolling my eyes at the same time, while a nagging thought kept asking, "How does this author know me and my wife so well?" I took comfort that there are indeed more men like me and more women like my wife who put up with us. Even the most mundane tasks, like shopping with a list that our wife gave us, seems to be taken right out of my life.Many authors try to capture the humor in our relationships in a way that is endearing as well. Rachel has done that marvelously. I can only imagine how much women enjoy this book, but to the men out there... trust me, you'll love this book, you'll laugh with it and you'll even try to convince yourself that it isn't really you in there. But the commonalities we all share is what makes this book spark to life.

A Walk in the Snark
I've been reading "Rachelintheoc" since I discovered her blog. She looks at life with a different view and turns little annoyances into funny, heart-warmning, and yes, sarcastic commentary. Her essays bring truth to life, and can be downright laughable, or tear-jerkers, or just head nodding (with thoughts of why didn't I think of it that way.) I thoroughly recommend this book to all men and women who like to look at life from a different viewpoint.

A Talented New Voice
I met Rachel through her blog and the IBC. Oh lord, is this lady funny! And talented!A Walk in the Snark is a fine collection of snarky posts about relationships, about men, about woman, about how they interact. It also has some truly heartfelt passages in it about loss, about love and how the two go hand-in-hand.This is a book worth picking up and reading. Having read and enjoyed "" I was looking forward to "The Mancode: Exposed" with great anticipation. I was not to be disappointed. It’s taken me years to complete my biography. Fear has always gotten in the way, but I’m no longer afraid of those who have tried to shut me up or who have hurt me throughout my lifetime. People have repeatedly told me I have to let go of the past. I’ve endured everything from casual shrugs and wagged fingers, to severe scoldings. And while it’s ideal to leave the past behind, sometimes its presence is too great and its hold too tight. Not only was I sexually molested by my father, but I endured a horrendous, Christian mother who treated me like the “other woman” once the truth of my father’s perversions surfaced. But the trauma didn’t end in my youth, I’ve suffered health issues which threatened to end my life, and was banished from my family per my mother – the matriarch’s - instructions. I lost everyone who mattered to me – aunts, uncles, cousins. My existence was erased with a wave of my mother’s hand.

Our legal system currently imposes harsh punishment for rapists; however, the man who repeatedly raped me throughout my childhood never spent a day behind bars.

FANTASTIC...except for the typo's
I was not expecting a book of this length for $2.99, so the value is great. Some readers may not like the format, and it takes a bit to catch onto, but once you do, it's much better.The story, without giving anything away, revolves around "3 friends" who had rough childhoods. When "1 of them" is diagnosed with cancer, the sit for 3 days trying to "heal her mind" so her body can heal more easily.I was a bit distracted by the typo's. Although they were minor, there were a lot. Many sentences with small words missing; several instances with the wrong word used ("dire circumstances" written as "dyer," "blind-sided" is "blind-sighted," for example). And a few instances where, when writing in the 1st person, she slips for a sentence or 2 into the 3rd. These could have been intentional, but I don't think so.I started to catch on to what was really going on very close to when the author decided to...

most enjoyable "gaslight" outing in years
ms. thompson has announced on her website that she has finally decided how to approach the way her midwife and detective can interact and be together, and it shows in the sheer delight and fun rampant in this latest addition to the "gaslight" series. a sense of humor and lightheartedness, not to mention direction, that has been missing from the past several adventures returns with a vengeance, and it becomes, quite literally, a mystery for the entire family to enjoy. i really admire the way ms. thompson has evolved, not just frank and sarah, but the people in their lives as the story has progressed, and mr. and mrs. decker definitely get a chance to shine in this one.the case itself is twisty and compelling, just the way we like it, and involves more of the "swells" that frank has learned to tolerate in his years of friendship with sarah brandt. i can't say the whodunit was much of a stumper, but it ambled along quite amiably until the end and never got too bogged down...

Every year I purchase Ms. Thompson's Gaslight series the day it comes to our local bookstore. I have been waiting for the time when Sarah and Sgt. Malloy finally get together. I'm glad they are finally partnering in her new book, but would still like to see more romance between them. A year between dates is a bit frustrating for me! I love her series and did not guess the murderer this time as I have in some of the past books. Great read and I finished it in five hours!

Don't hesitate to buy this collection of Janice Thompson's romantic books. They are SPLENDID! Very well-written with always a great sense of humor. The Christian element to these books allows me to share this book with my teenage daughter, knowing it is totally appropriate. I had to make myself slow down while reading the second book because I didn't want it to end. If you have not yet read any of Mrs. Thompson's books, this would be a great start. Happy reading!

Good read
I read this book only because I'd read another book by the author (Fools Rush In) that I thought was just delightful (so much that the unrealistic parts didn't bother me - and usually would in most other books). I hoped I was going to get something similar here, romance, comedy, rich characters, but it really was not the same kind of book. That's not a bad thing, just not what I was hoping for. The story was more cliche and the characters not as engaging.There are two 'books' combined here, the first tells the mother's own love story and the second brings us to the daughter's love story. I enjoyed the mother's own most. It was more realistic, and I thought from the male's point of view, the story was also more believable and more engaging. I felt that I forced myself to finish the second book 'just because' they were linked by some of the same characters. I just didn't get into it the same way as the first book.I would continue to check out anything by this author and I do...

A Must Read for Those Struggling....
Fill These Empty Arms is another triumph for Janice Hanna Thompson. This is a novel about 5 different women, each from a different background, going through the emotional roller coaster of having empty arms. One is struggling with infertility, one is struggling with post abortion syndrome, one is struggling with having an empty nest and loneliness, one is struggling to make things right after a failed marriage, and the other a young girl who just found out she was pregnant.... Beautifully told, each chapter dives you deeper in the psyche of these women until you too are feeling their pain, struggles, and fears. And because God is with all these women, regardless of where they are in their walk with Him, the characters find HOPE, FAITH, JOY, LOVE, & PEACE. And as a reader, it was so easy to rejoice with a few tears of happiness as I finished the last page!

True for so many people
Fill these Empty Arms will pull at your heartstrings and help you realize how blessed you are. The story of each character accurately portrays the many feelings of those in similar circumstances I have witnessed throughout my thirty-four years of public service. I work on anti-gang strategies to help youth become resistant to the pressure of joining a gang. I see so many kids; just like Lexie, who are crying for help, have no support, and no place to go. Definitely not a romantic comedy like other books by Janice, but it describes the personal struggles and tests of faith suffered by so many people throughout the world.

LOVE this book! Buy one for yourself and another for someone with empty arms
Touching on topics close to the hearts of women - infertility, abortion, and family relationships, among others - Thompson skillfully blends seemingly different lives to not only fill empty arms but also empty hearts. The characters in this novel are so real they leap off the page, and the burdens they bear will along with the solutions Thompson provides will stay with you long after the story is finished. I believe it is an effort to help Tommy Thompson because Mark Neumann is getting a lot of delegates there. But what you have is Tommy is the establishment candidate and there are a lot of County Chairs who are party faithful, ‘this is what the party wants, they want Tommy. Mark Neumann then called and said look I just want to get a lot of delegates there because this convention should be about Scott Walker and I want them there to support Scott Walker. Tommy Thompson should be doing that. Then I found out, that a lot of these are Mark Neumann supporters who want to be there for Mark Neumann. What’s happening is somebody who’s worried about Tommy doesn’t like the idea that Neumann’s doing this and I believe in my opinion from what all of these chairs told me they are trying to change the rules. Will I ever learn to spell that without looking it up. ) effectively usurped the Tea Party here and aligned it perfectly with the establishment party. That it was trying to change the rules so last minute delegates to the state convention a week from this weekend would be disallowed because Tommy’s afraid in an endorsement he wouldn’t get the vote. Well, Mark I don’t really believe that’s, look, you want them to be there to support you. I don’t see anything wrong with Mark Neumann doing this. Now, the question then is: are they trying to change the rules so Neumann can’t do this.
