Inexpensive but sounds fine
Bought this (and another Old Standby in the key of "G") to work on some Rolling Stones and Neil Young songs on guitar and harp...This is not a $35 harp, but is fine for practice, for playing around the house, and for campfire-type jamming with friends and family.I have had no trouble with it at all.

I like them
I picked these up today and for the price they are a steal. I have blues harps and marine bands and Oskar and I like these because they are easy to play and bend notes easily plus since they are plastic, you don't get the metallic taste in your mouth and I am sure they won't rust! I am not a professional musician, but have played harmonica for many years and find it very easy to bend the notes on these harps.

Great for Beginners!
I really recomend this set for any beginners.Good playiblity, and they have a very nice warm tone.Plus you get a nice case to use as you upgrade to better harmonicas.I am a beginner and like these better than the Hohner Big River. The Big River has a higher tone and is harder to play for a beginner. You can't go wrong buying this set at such a good price.

Shock me ! Wow what a deal !
Let me start by saying all I wanted to do with this is use the case for my more pricer harps thinking the harps that came with this set were just toys. These harps are not the best but for $20 dollars it is one H*LL of a deal ! Not toys at all. IMO very good first harps to learn on with nice tone. I'm keeping mine for back up and fishing trips. Trust me, there is nothing better for casual playing or first time users. $20 dollars for 7 harps and a case. WOW. Get one and try it out for yourself and see what I am talking about. Hope this review helped some one out.

another excellent harmonica from Lee Oskar
Lee Oskar makes such great instruments. I have about five of them, in different keys, that I have played all, almost daily, and in 6 months I only developed one bad reed, which I was able to adjust myself. They have a very refined sound and excellent when playing single notes. For more bending and chord playing I prefer my Hohner super 20 harps, of which I have two, with one more on the way. Both brands are really fine instruments that I clean meticulously after each use, and with the plastic combs they are so comfortable to play and easy to clean that they just gleam, after a quick cleaning of the outsides, with just plain water on a paper napkin. In closing, I highly recommend the Lee Oskar. For beginners to experts. Love dealing thru Amazon. Couldn't do without them....

HOW MUCH ?????????WOW !!!!
These are great harps...BUT buyers be warned......LEE OSKAR has up the price of these "MOST POPULAR and BEST SELLING " harps....7-8 dollars a piece in the last year. REALLY !!! WHY ??? And why that much ? Just plain stupid. They have up the cost just to compete with the HOHNER SPEACIL 20's. SAD LEE, JUST SAD.I bought a bunch last year and they where all different KEYS, that cost 23.00 dollars................NOW 30.00 dollars for all keys.

Product Description

The Major Diatonic harmonica is the most commonly used tuning for playing Blues, Rock, Country Folk & Jazz. Major Diatonic harps are produced by several manufacturers using various names such as Blues Harp, Marine Band, Golden Melody, Big River, Special 20, Pro Harp, Folk Master, Star Performer, etc. Although the cover plates are stamped with a variety of different names for marketing purposes, all of these harmonicas have the exact same notation layout as the Lee Oskar Major Diatonic. The most important difference is in the quality of materials, construction, design and sound. Lee Oskars are the best harmonicas in the world, and that's not just our opinion. All over the world, professional players prefer Lee Oskar Harps over any other brand. Top to learn more

Highly recommended
Winslow Yerxa's book "Harmonica for Dummies" should be titled "Everything You Need to Know About Harmonica"Winslow is one of the most highly respected members of the nation's harmonica community. He has forgotten more about harmonica than most of us will ever learn. As I told him, if this book had been available 30 years ago when I started playing harmonica, I would be a real player now. Anyone interested in harmonica will not find a book with more information, and concise, easy to understand instruction, than this gem.If you have any urge at all to learn how to play this fascinating little instrument, this will be the best money you have ever spent.I play harmonica in a band and I can find all kinds of things in this book that will keep me learning.

Basics to Fairly Advanced, Superbly Written
This book is truly well-written. It is crystal clear, follows a progressive course of instruction from end-to-end without any out-of-place interruptions, has no errors that I've been able to find, and actually covers more than most beginning players really want or need to know initially (e.g., playing in other than the first and second positions). The accompanying CD is also excellent. While the tunes, in typical instruction book fashion, aren't anything you'd want to listen to for entertainment, as they are the usual folk tunes long out of copyright, they are well-recorded and each track is played in exactly the manner needed to illustrate whatever playing principle is being demonstrated. The backing instrumentation never overwhelms the harp, and the harp is played with only the techniques and ornamentation (bends, articulation, wah, etc.) appropriate to the topic. The tracks are already in MP3 format, so there's no need to rip them down to your PC for your iPod...

For Dummies and Smarty-Pants too!
Winslow Yerxa and team produced what may be the best book about harmonica yet. He really covers the whole range of issues with harp which I've encountered in my almost 40 years of playing blues harp purely from feel, and he demonstrates with words that which normally defies explanation.Yerxa's intellect and humor animate the organization, writing, and tone of the tome, making it both entertaining, and eminently readable, even for a poor book-learner such as myself!Congratulations on creating a super-resource for our fine and enigmatic instrument!

Sure enough, Silvio soon guided his boat back to the dock, his face lighting up as soon as he saw us and he handed my friend his wayward harmonica. Down the way, I was admiring some of the famed Italian leather goods when my friend realized he had forgotten his precious harmonica in the gondola. My friend bought a beautiful harmonica in a tiny little music shop that looked to have been there for centuries. So we are on the dock trying to communicate with my looking in my Italian phrase book where I found bits and pieces to (badly) piece together “I left my bag in the gondola” (Dimenticato mi borsa en gondola… horrible. From Prague, we headed to Salzburg, Austria where I found my miniscule German could be somewhat understood by those in Austria and that Austria is known as Österreich, which I had never heard before that trip. Our explorations around the city led us to the gondola docks where we decided that riding the gondola was something you just have to do when in Venice (even if it is stupidly expensive. He had always wanted one and what better souvenir than to buy one from a sop nestled in such a famous and historical city. Giddy like a schoolgirl,  I got my passport and booked a trip through London to Frankfurt where we would head out to other interesting places. We rushed back to the dock to see if it had been turned in. What we discovered is the man who booked the trip only spoke enough English to tell people the price and some of the sites – not much else other than that and my Italian is non-existent...

Lower key harps are easier to play and bend notes……the reeds are longer. the odd keys are hard to find sometimes. but any of the lower harps C,C#,G, Aflat, A ,Bflat, and B are good. but Low F,E,F# are hard to find.
