real 1000 watts. real sinewave. real nice inverter
Recently the price on inverters (esp true sine) has dropped quite a bit (there are two xantrex 1000 watt units - the older 750 buck one and now the $200-$300 price one). Xantrex has a wonderful reputation. I own this inverter along with their older model (pro-sine) and also the new entry from sunforce (yes - I have alot of 1000w inverters).I also have alot of 1000w loads. In particular is my favorite testload - a 1050 w (with motor- the heating element is 1000w exactly but it has a blower that consumes 50w so technically its a tad high).With this dummy load both of my xantrex inverters will run it all day or until the battery bank dies whichever comes first. They draw about 110-115 amps on the 12vdc lines.The sunforce 1000w inverter CAN NOT run this load for more than 2 seconds without an output overload shutdown. But I still like the sunforce because it can handle 900W and it has an RF keychain remote on/off switch.The point is...

Love it.
I'm not running much off this device and the thing that strikes me is that the cooling fan only turns on when a certain temperature is reached. So for small loads, it's very quiet because the fan has no need to turn on. Previous experiences with inverter default to the fan being on and they are often very noisy.The sine wave seems to be clean. After trying this, I'll never go back to modified sine waves for devices remotely designed to work with sine waves. Otherwise, I'll just go with the cheap square wave inverters.I plan on buying another unit in the future.

It got the job done.
I bought this inverter for long power failures. I wanted a way to keep my fridge running overnight when I can't run my generator (out of consideration for my sleeping neighbors). At first it failed to start the fridge using 8ga jumper cables on a set of golf cart batteries. I ditched the jumpers and hard wired it to the batteries using proper connectors and 2ga wire. After that it ran the fridge fine. The nameplate on the fridge says 1320watts, using a meter I found it to peak around 1200w with an avg continuous load of 250w. I've only run it for about 8hrs so no word on longevity, but it appears to be a well made unit based on fit and form.

Great sine wave inverter!
I've had this inverter for about two weeks and I really like it; and I'm doubly impressed for the price point. I've lived off grid for 15 years and needed a sine wave inverter to run some equipment that wouldn't run off my workhorse Trace modified sine wave. I haven't metered the output but it's running my touchy electronics continously without any problems, it's very quiet (I actually have it mounted on the wall in my bedroom) and it doesn't draw much power when it isn't being used. I like it so much that I'm considering replacing my primary inverter with the next larger Prowatt from this one. The built in voltmeter is a great extra as is the usb port for charging electronics. The battery connections on the back are large and easy access; the over current shutdown automatically resets itself when the batteries drop to an acceptable level (I accidently had it turned on while equalizing).

Good, cheap True Sinewave inverter
I bought this elsewhere. This is by far the lowest cost True Sinewave inverter I have ever seen. I don't have an Oscilloscope at home to verify the wave form but trust the manufacturers listed specs, which specify True Sinewave.True Sinewave(close the real thing that comes out of the wall) not "Pure Sinewave", which is just a modified square wave without noise spikes.I bought this to run my Harman Pellet stove off of battery backup in the event of a power outage without fuel for my portable gas generator. I bought a True Sinewave inverter because I don't want to risk damaging my 3300 dollar stove by using a "Modified Sinewave" inverter, or more accurately a Modified Square wave inverter, which is the cheap standard in electrical power inverters.Modified Sinewave is the types of inverters in UPS and most inverters sold today. Read the warning that says it could damage variable speed motors and such.True Sinewave inverters like this...

Good inverter at a very decent price
I purchased this inverter to replace a Sinergex Pure Sine 600 unit that failed after 5 years on my boat which is used to provide power to the entertainment system and TV.Compared to other similar pure sine wave inverters the ProWatt SW600 is a great buy. Easily half the price of a replacement Sinergex and other similar units.For my application, it had to be installed in concealed location. The SW600 was slightly larger than the Sinergex unit it was replacing but not by much and it fit nicely in the same space that the Sinergex unit was in.The unit works great, provides clean power to the entertainment system and TV. It hums a bit when running but not enough to be annoying in a quiet cabin. If you are mounting this unit to a wood panel you may want to use rubber isolation to minimize the amplification of the hum through the wood panel.My only complaint isn't so much with this unit as with the most recent 'safety' requirements that in...

Survived the North East blackout
It couldn't be a better time. Yesterday noon I got the X-Power 400 delivered by UPS, and in few hours it was put to its ultimate test. Yes we were hit by the 08/14 Thursday North East Blackout. But with the help of the X-Power 400, I was able to hookup the 13"TV and Dish receiver. Enought to spend the restof the evening siting in the desk and watching the CNN news update and TV programs with family and friends. I love the cigrette adapter and the battery clips. I used the battery clips to get power from my car battery. I recommend X-Power 400 for any regular household use. If you are planning to operate power tools, I suggest get the 700 or above. This 400 is smart, small in size packed with all the energy to keep your entertainment rolling without any interrruption. My original intention to use my Laptop on my roadtrips, but this proved to be much more useful than just powering the laptop.X-Power 400 User.

Don't buy this if you are planning to use for cordless tool charging
This item works as advertised, but it is a modified sine wave inverter. If you are planning on using it to charge cordless tool batteries---don't. The owners manual contains a caution about using with cordless tool chargers (such as Dewalt). Do a quick Internet search on "cordless tools" and "modified sine wave inverter" to confirm whether your tool is effected. Some other items that may not work well are appliances with clocks, microwaves, etc. Be sure you understand the limitations of a modified sine wave inverter.For those smaller appliances that will run on modified sine wave, this item works well.

Get the 700 watter
Real nice unit, but I wish I had bought the Xantrex 700 watt unit instead. For instance, I have a small auto vacuum that need 6 amps. This unit won't handle it. This unit can attach to the cigarette lighter or directly to the battery. The 700 watt unit skips the lighter input -- fine with me but maybe not with you. If you need lighter input then get the 400 watt unit. I will say that the inverter is well built and designed. I like the fact that the power input leads are attached via screw posts. This lets you modify it as needed, for instance if you needed longer leads, you could make your own and not have to kludge it.

Powers a large Karaoke machine for five+ hours
I needed a powerful but sealed power-pack (sealed battery + converter) for poolside use, to power a large 110-volt karaoke machine for five hours a day. The Xatrex 1500 is the only power-pack I've found that meets this requirement.It was a pleasant surprise to find that the wheels have rubber rather than (noisy) plastic treads.The first 1500 stopped working with a bang after two hours. When I phoned the Xantrex company, the technician I soon was talking to quickly concluded that my 1500 had malfunctioned and recommended that I return it. I was pleased with this candor. The second 1500 has worked for about a month now.Not obvious is that the 1500 has a small storage cabinet, in which I store an extension cord.Both 1500s arrived undamaged. Good all-in-one package
The Xpower 1500 is a good backup system as it has eveything you need in a convenient handtruck (the batteries are heavy).Unfortunately the 61 Amphr batteries don't last that long. Adding a 100Ahr battery which you can easily be connected to the xPower make for a nice system which will get you thru a few days of blackout.

Badly damaged once again.
I previously ordered two of these units and wrote a review. Both were badly damaged, but one was salvagable. The other I had to return, after it overheated and emitted a noxious odor. I decided to take a chance and order another unit this month (goal was to have total of two working units), hoping that whatever warehouse or shipping issues that resulted in previous damage had been resolved. They weren't. This unit also came with crushed top and wheels. Until the manufacturer comes up with a better way to ship these heavy beasts, not worth it.

Xantrex 2000 better quality than Sunforce 4500
I have been running A 1 Kw solar plant to run a 1500 watt 19 gal water heater or 2 515 watt Air Conditioners (window units). The Xantrex 2000 inverter easily runs the water heater and 1 AC unit at the same time or the 2 AC units by themselves. It won't handle the startup load of both AC units at the same time though, so I added a time delay relay to one of the AC units and now the inverter easily runs both. I am very impressed with this product after having a Sunforce 4500 watt inverter for almost 2 years now. The Xantrex is way more efficient than the Sunforce with only .8 amps of overhead. It's quiet, well built, and so efficient I can leave it on continuously. I am very pleased.

Unit Works Like A Charm But Power Rating Is Questionable
My Xantrex Prowatt SW2000 true sine wave inverter works well in my application but there are several details you may want to investigate.1.) In order to handle heavy loads, high-power inverters require high-capacity battery banks and low resistance wiring and connections.2.) Even the recommended battery/wiring system may not supply the specified voltage to the inverter for the inverter to supply its maximum rated output.3.) The maximum rated inverter output is lower for motor loads, which are inductive.4.) You are faced with high current surges associated with motor starting.You may be familiar with some or all of these considerations but I'll give some details.The SW2000 does produce a true sine wave as observed on an oscilloscope. It also maintains the 120 Volts under varying loads.My main application is to provide minimal emergency back up power when the utility electrical service is interrupted...
