Peter David & X-Factor: a perfect match
Peter David's new X-FACTOR series rivals Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's ASTONISHING X-MEN in excellence. Thanks largely to the success of the 5-issued MADROX: MULTIPLE CHOICE limited series, Peter David was able to resuscitate the X-Factor title. In the aftermath of the sweeping HOUSE OF M and DECIMATION story arcs and as a direct continuation of the aforementioned Madrox limited series, Jamie Madrox is still heavily invested in his work in the private investigator field. However, his detective firm undergoes a name change, from XXX Investigations to X-Factor Investigations (because its members thought it sounded too much like they were investigating pornography). In addition to Jamie Madrox (Multiple Man), Guido (Strong Guy), and Rahne Sinclair (Wolfsbane), new members now include Theresa Cassidy (Siryn), Monet St. Croix (M), and the depowered Rictor. A mysterious and manipulative young girl named Layla Miller (Butterfly), who professes to "know stuff," rather abruptly makes herself...

Among the best X-Titles there's ever been
Peter David transformed mutant Jamie Madrox in his earlier miniseries, 'Madrox'. Jamie Madrox had been something of a joke before then, and the fact that he was essentially forgotten was something that didn't bother many people. Until 'Madrox'. Now, Madrox catches a second wind in X-Factor. This is the first volume, detailing Peter David's attempt to turn a group of unimportant, forgotten, or flat-out hated characters into a group of the most interesting people currently inhabitting the Marvel Universe. The book is difficult to compare to anything else in the Marvel Universe. It's clearly more of a traditional superhero book than 'Madrox' was. It's clearly more noir than New Avengers, or other traditional superhero books. It's somewhere right in the middle. This first book deals with two entwined plots. The first is their confrontation with the sinister Singularity Investigations, a group of people who cater to the rich and famous,...

Peter David Surprises With X-Factor Reboot
X-Factor has been many things, from a team reprising the original X-Men line-up to a cast of B-characters led by Cyclops's brother Havok. With "The Longest Night," however, Peter David uses the team name for Madrox's new mutant detective agency. While many of the team members have been on previous X-Factor incarnations, the title isn't bogged down with the past like the main X-books often seem. Instead, this is a fresh start for X-Factor that even non-superhero fans will find appealing with its neo-noir artwork and pacing.

X-Factor's Back!
Book 6 of the X-Factor series, "Secret Invasion", was quite rightly panned by fans. More than one fan, including myself, began to think that the series was going downhill. We needn't have worried. Whatever went wrong in Volume 6, it's over now. Volume 7 brought back a great story, which is wrapped up in this new Volume 8. X-Factor is back on track and gives we readers everything we want from our favorite superhero team. Peter David is a writer that knows how to give fans what we want--drama, action, adventure, romance, mystery--and yet he almost always does it in a way we don't expect, keeping things fresh. In this one volume we find friends turned enemies, enemies who are suddenly friends, and the rekindling of an old romance that readers have long been clamoring for. The identity of Cortex, the villain introduced in volume 7, is revealed--but what does his identity have to do with threats from the future coming back to kill our heroes? And is he...

Best mutant book of the decade
X-Factor is hands down the most interesting and consistently best written and drawn X-book of the 2000s. Start with volume 1, though, because it's one long story.

Still Good
This volume definitely has one of the more engaging plots of x-factor and is also an important chapter of the X-factor series as it begins the re-structuring of the current team. The humor, drama and plot twists are all ace so there's not much to complain about. I knocked it down one star because this volume doesn't finish the arc so you'd need to get vol 8 as well for the full story. Fans of X-factor will be happy to know that this volume continues to deliver the goods but if you're just a casual reader looking to get into X-factor it's probably not a good idea to start with this volume.

X-Factor kicking all the other "X" books' asses
At the time of X-Factor #39's original printing, it was arguably the best "X" book on the market. Despite the inconsistent and at times indigestible art (I'm looking at you Larry Stroman) and wave of crossover events (Decimation, Civil War, Messiah Complex, Secret Wars, etc.), Peter David was able to deftly steer the X-Factor crew to calmer waters and greener pastures. By calmer waters and greener pastures I am of course referring to David's topnotch writing. David is the king of wit, banter, and humor. There have been few issues where I did not find myself laughing hysterically or at least mildly chuckling (even with the darker plot lines). On to "Time and a Half." This TPB collects #39-45, seven issues that featured numerous shakeups for the X-Factor crew. At the very least, three major things happen within the span of these seven issues; issue #39 specifically throws a curve ball that I doubt even those who have been following X-Factor since the beginning saw coming...

LOS ANGELES  — Fox television network said on Sunday there were no plans for a spin-off of its television musical comedy "Glee" and there will be changes to Simon Cowell’s "The X Factor" after the show’s first season on US television. Fox said it reached the top spot for the No. 1 reality series overall with "The X Factor Omega replica watches ," despite the new singing competition’s rocky start not quite living up to creator Simon Cowell’s predictions with a show that... I think everybody now has come to realize the value of Ryan Seacrest," he said, adding of "X-Factor" host Steve Jones — "whether Steve’s the guy or not, it comes under the heading of growth in general so there will be some tweaks to the show. "It’s hard to imagine the network without ‘House’," said Reilly, who said that the show would not suffer from an "unceremonious finish" and did not rule out that the show could move to another network. "There will not be a ‘Glee’ spinoff, but those characters will graduate and it’s led to a really interesting idea that I think is going to give us something really cool to dig into next season," he said, referring to the fates of the lead... But "Glee" fans will likely be pleased that Lea Michele, one of the show’s leads, will still be part of the show’s upcoming season in which the characters graduate, said Kevin Reilly, president of entertainment at Fox at the Television Critics...

Winning the very first season of " The X Factor (US) " on Thursday, December 22 night, Melanie Amaro took home $5 million recording contract and a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial. I don't know, I guess it was just because everyone thought he was -well not thought, but - everyone knew that he was an original artist and that he wrote his own music and was original and he connected well with everyone. The 19-year-old told reporters during the Friday conference call, "I'm definitely going to buy myself a foot massager and buy my mom a new house. I was hurt at first, but you know, I forgave and forgot and let go and I grew really at peace with it. ". "X Factor" will join a list that includes "The Sing-Off," "Platinum Hit," "The Glee Project", "American Idol", and Cowell’s own "America’s Got Talent. Cowell, 51, has been working on a US version of his hit UK talent show "The X Factor" for more than 18 months. Fox and Cowell’s Syco production company have declined to confirm reports that ex-Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger — initially hired as "X Factor" co-host — will take over from Cole. Last month, Fox television touted Cowell and "The X Factor" as the highlight of its new fall schedule. Depending on whom you believe, Cole was apparently dropped because of concerns that her Northern English accent might prove tough for US viewers, or because she lacked chemistry with "Idol" alumna Abdul, or because she was uncharacteristically... While Cowell was working on "X Factor," rival network NBC jumped in with "The Voice. Perhaps more ominously yet another singing show, "The Voice," has become a surprise hit by borrowing some key "X Factor" components.
