Good from the box, even better with proper alignment
A friend got this six months ago for job-site use. It cut pretty well right from the box. The fence has a rack-and-pinion system that is clever, but not quite perfect. We measured the alignment error and have two fixes. If you want to know about them so you can save some money, read on...Using a TS Aligner, we checked the alignment of the fence. The fence was near-perfect when we backed up to the mark, (going right) but it skewed by as much as four or five-thousandths when we moved the fence to the left. That's because the connecting rod between the two gears flexes and there is some "slop" or "play" in the gears. This is more noticeable when approaching the mark from the right. Sometimes this is referred to "lash-back or back-lash."The easy work-around was to always go past the mark (an inch or so to the left) , then roll the knob back slowly right to the mark and try not to overshoot. That works OK, and it is free, but it is a time-wasting nuisance and won't...

Serves its purpose
When I saw this, I immediately thought of how handy it would be on the jobsite. I have a Bosch 4000 that I truly love & believe its the best 10" saw in it class, but its heavy and I don't always need the capacity of that saw. This "little" DeWalt is perfect for ripping 1x stock for trim work & the like. I've even had it up on my scaffold. I've found the fence to be dead on and very easy to adjust. The motor has plenty of power. I think DeWalt hit a home run with this saw...Now if it only came in a cordless version!!

With only one small exception
Absolutely fantastic portable saw!! It's about time someone has offered a "portable" saw with small "stationary" power. This saw cuts through tough hardwoods with ease, so with it's compact size it is the perfect saw for small jobs without compromising power. I own the Bosch contractors table saw w/ gravity rise stand, another awesome portable saw, but when doing small jobs it's easier to not have to drag out a bigger saw to complete an easy job. The only draw back is the price and the chincy miter guage that comes with it.If they could cut the cost to $300 they would sell more of them but I paid more and am happy I did. I use it more than I thought I would. Other wise 5 stars easily...

Rockwell RK 7240
This is truly a portable as far as weight is concern. The only deficiencies I see in this model is the rather flimsy blade height adjusting wheel, and the absence of a zero clearance blade plate option, which plate is also shimmed rather poorly because they are loose and rather not easy to reposition once you remove the plate to change blades. Other than that is a fine little machine with a powerful motor and nice stand. For the money you can't go wrong, it'll do the same job as other much more expensive 10" saws. It's kind of a Deja VU to the old Makita little "Green" portable that I used to own, and was looking for when I came across this one.

Exceptional Table Saw
I am a finish carpenter and had been going back and forth between the Ridgid Table Saw and Bosch. Although I've used the Ridgid before, after researching the Bosch for couple of months, I decided to buy it. This saw is more expensive than the Ridgid but I must say it is worth the extra bucks. Very sturdy and accurate (once you do your initial setup). The gravity rise stand is ingenious and although I do not mind the 2 step folding saws, this saw always puts a smile on my face as I use the rise stand. Its so simple even a kid could work it.The saw is higher than your standard table saws by about 3 inches. It does not sound much but it did feel awkward at first after using standard saws for such a long time. You do get use to it quickly though.The rip fence is dead on and the soft start feature is a nice addition that prevents overload.The saw is heavy but is easily loaded to the bed of your truck/van by placing the handles on the bed and sliding it back.One of...

Frustrating but well worth it
I had a lot of frustrating little problems when I first got the saw but now that it's worked out it well worth it.This is actually my second 4100. The first one was damaged when the box came open during shipment and the table top was scratched up by parts of the cart legs. It didn't help that the way it was packed the only thing separating the table top and the cart legs was a thin pieice of styrofoam with a cut out in the middle.Anyway I received the second saw undamaged. There were some fit and finish issues. The table top had what looked like black fingerprint marks. I tried getting it off but couldn't...oh well...no big deal it's cosmetic. The second problem was not so trivial. The riving knife assembly was loose and not square to the table or lined up to the blade. There were no instructions in the manual on how to align it. I emailed Bosch customer service but it took them awhile to respond (5 days). In the interim, I figured it out myself...

Just as advertised
I have been using this saw for several months and am quite happy with it. I bought it mostly because of the safety features: riving knife, blade guard, and anti-kickback pawls. Early reviews said that these devices are so easy to use that owners actually will use them, and that has been my experience.The saw is well designed in other respects, too. The fence and miter gauge are easily adjusted and accurate. The blade height adjustment wheel is convenient. The only thing I don't like is the clumsy blade bevel adjustment: to change the blade angle, you unlock a rather stiff lever and the blade and motor assembly flops around--you just push it to where you want it and tighten the clamping lever. I would have preferred a wheel like the height adjustment.The gravity-rise stand is neat. I don't transport the saw to job sites (I'm a hobbyist woodworker), but I have to work in my garage, and need to store my tools against the wall. The saw is easy to fold up and stores...

Beautiful little table saw
I am actually surprised at the negative reviews for this saw. I've had mine for a few weeks now and would have to say that I am very happy with it. The alignments are right on the money and I absolutely love how all the accesories store underneath the saw. It doesn't come with the best miter gauge but, then again, what saw in this price range " does " come with a decent miter gauge? Even the blade that comes with this saw cuts pretty well. I have crosscut and ripped and cut plywood with the included blade and they have all come out with better than expected results, not perfect, but pretty good. I don't think that I could expect more from a $400 saw. It's not comparable to a $5000 cabinet saw but it only costs $400 so that is to be expected. The fence is true, the blade is 90 degrees and if you invest in an aftermarket miter gauge ( like an Incra ) you will have a saw that can give you very accurate results. I love this saw, well worth the money and I bet that it is probably the best...

sweet design
I was a little skeptical buying this saw since there were no customer reviews to read on account of it being so new. I was torn between buying the this and 10 inch Dewalt priced around 320 at home depot. I had previously worked with the Dewalt and it was a decent tool but it seemed that the new Bosch had a lot more features. I have to say I've only been pleasantly surprised so far.The Bosch is slightly heavier than the Dewalt at 52 pounds but the side handle makes it so easy to carry around that you don't mind. On top of which this saw can store vertically saving a bunch of space. It was perfect out of the box, no adjustment needed and it took me less than 15 minutes to assemble all parts and get a general working idea of how to operate it. The rip fence was a little awkard intially, the release mechanism requires a lot of force to push up and you almost feel like you're breaking something but after a couple of uses it loosened up and felt more natural. Review: Bosch GTS1031 10-Inch Portable Jobsite Table Saw
This weekend, I set up my new Bosch table saw. Its the 1031, the new kid on the block and a perfect replacement for my old Craftsman. The 'put-together' went very easily, simply followed the directions which were concise but thorough. Assembly involved positioning of the blade (I didn't bother with the one it came with, a .102" tooth kerf, just put a 10" blade on the arbor that I trusted from another machine), set up the riving knife, guards and anti-kickback prawl. They pretty much just screwed right into place, perfect placement on screw holes, etc. Setup was all of 10 minutes. I did not use the legs, I bolted the unit to my workbench, which was also very easy.Adjusting the blade to the 0 degree stop went well, though the 45 degree stop didn't look quite right on the scale, the blade measured to 45 degrees. Then I reset to 0 degrees and remeasured and it was fine. That's important. For some saws, one the arbor is moved to an angled bevel, it never successfully gets...

DeWalt Versus Others
I have several DeWalt tools because of their quality. This was my latest addition because of the rack and pinion fence, mobile base and available outfeeds (DW7441) making it a great job site tool.I do however concur with one previous rater, you MUST check the accuracy of the gauge. Though it says it's calibrated at the factory, mine was off. Minor and easily adjusted.It's not a light saw, but the mobile base rolls great once you have the saw mounted to the base.Highly recommend it!

Excellent portable saw
I ordered this saw to meet an immediate remodeling job requirement. I was astounded that Amazon got it to me in two days where others were quoting more than a week. The saw assembled easily and the initial setup was straight forward and alignments correct. It definitely meets the "portable" standard and the rolling stand is among the best I've seen. Good saw
This is the second time I bought this saw. I am a contractor and just plain wore the first one out. Had a lot of problems in the end keeping the fence aligned. But still the best portable saw out there for my purposes. What I would say about the rolling stand is that it ads a LOT of weight to the saw. I bought the side and rear table extensions (DW7441). Problem is, with the rolling stand, when you fold it up and stand it on end to roll it, the side extension slides out and hits the floor! (very frustrating) Called Dewalt tech support to report obvious design oversight, (am sure they immediately called a meeting with R and D) and to hear the obligatory appology for the trouble I was having with no remedy (or understanding) of the problem. Overall a decent saw as far as portable saws go.

Quite pleased
Overall, a great investment for the money ($109)for a product that looked to be brand new. The base is sturdy, it has plenty of power for the average handy man and it's simple to set up and use. I was able to rip through treated 1x8's without a problem with the factory blade but wouldn't recommend keeping that blade in use for an extended period. The blade guard is poorly designed but dosen't seem to be much of a draw back. My biggest complaint is that the clamps on the locking bar are pretty weak and require the use of C-clamps for it to securely lock in place. It's definitely not a contractor grade tool but if you're looking for a saw to remodel a room or do other simple jobs, you'll be happy with this item.Note: Very similar (almost identical) to the Craftsman Evolv series table saw with the same specs.

Good saw for the money
I have several reconditioned Ryobi products that I am happy with and this saw is no exception. It does not have a full size table, but on the other hand it is light enough to be portable. I have used it for cross cuts and ripping and it does a fine job. The fence is reasonably sturdy, although the mitre gauge/pusher is probably too small for precision jobs. The height, angle, and power switch controls are sturdy.

Just Right for the Home Handyman
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE FACTORY RECONDITIONED MODEL. My old 10" Craftsman table saw gave up after 26 years of good service. I used it for some home cabinetry which I built to close tolerances over the years. Now I'm no longer in that mode, but I do need to cut miscellaneous 1x and 2x stock plus 1/2" to 3/4" plywood from time to time. I doubt if I'll ever need to cut a full 4x8 sheet again. This Ryobi seemed like just the right fit for my current needs, as it has proven to be, especially considering the very, very attractive price. I was not going to spend upwards of $300 for a table saw that I'd rarely use and even then for simple projects. The Ryobi arrived well packaged and protected. The set up was clear and easy from the instructions provided. It seems more than adequately powered, cutting very cleanly.
