Works Great
Very good quality, it feels solid. I tell my assistant to slam it hard so that I get a very audible sound pop, and it's held together perfectly. I wouldn't pay more for another one unless it has digital time code built in. It's helped me sync audio using the sound spike when plural eyes fails. It's been a blessing to me in some cases while editing, now I use it all the time.

Awesome Slate, Replaces my Convertible Tablet
August 2011 Update1.Great news Microsoft appears to be hearing the cry's of the people to create an amazing tablet user interface. Check out the youtube titled "Building "Windows 8" - Video #1." The rumor is that Microsoft will try to make windows 8 compatible with machines running windows 7. The key issue with this HP Tablet is the screen resolution. From Wikipedia "The new interface is primarily designed for 16:9 screen resolutions, with 1366×768 and larger screens able to display two Windows 8 applications. 1024×768 screens can display one Windows 8 application in full-screen, and 1024×600 screens can only use the traditional Windows desktop." The HP slate runs 1024 x 600 as its native resolution but it can run 1024 x768. So the hope is that the HP Slate will be able to run windows 8 and the future software that will be written for windows 8.2. Awesome! Not a toy like an ipad or android.
If you like games, ipads and androids, don't buy this. If you are a professional who uses windows and microsoft office solutions, this is incredible. A full fledged PC. Earlier models had poor battery life, however now that the harddrive is solid state flash drive and not one with moving parts, the battery lasts for considerable use. My primary desire was to have a slate that would do great with handwriting recognition. This is amazing, my handwriting is so bad that I can not even read it some days - this slate figures it out extemely well. I could not be more satisfied.

Great Product! Does Everything!
We originally wanted to get an iPad -- we wanted portable internet browsing and an e-book reader (ie, Kindle), the kids wanted to play touch screen games, and we wanted to be able to stream YouTube videos. However, we also wanted to be able to video chat (using Skype). My wife also wanted to be able to manage her photos (from camera's SD memory card). We also wanted to be able to access web sites with Flash content. And I wanted to be able to print to any printer (not just the very few iPad AirPrint-enabled printers, which we don't own). And it would be nice to be able to install the full Office suite.This is the only device that meets all of our needs! It's also nice to have the USB connectivity (for DVD drive, direct printers, 3g/4g card, etc.). And we have the "power" button set to put the computer to "sleep" (as opposed to turning off the device), which gives us the "instant on" capability. And we love the included dock's HDMI port, for streaming any video content to...

Really nice.
I have to admit, I had no idea how useful this clapboard would be until I got it. Up until now I had gotten by with having my subject clap for audio sync coupled with creative file naming. There were of course, the odd scenes that I couldn't place, especially when filming promotional style videos where we would spend several hours on the same location. This clapboard greatly helped!BUILD/DESIGNThe board seems very well made. It has a very nice weight to it, something that lacks in several of the other boards I have held (via friends). The board has enough boxes for all of the information an amateur film-maker would need, I usually only use about half of the space. The clapper sticks have a handy grey scale on them, and while I use a dedicated grey scale card set, it's nice to know the feature is there. The acrylic is easy to write on, especially with good quality dry-erase markers!FUNCTIONThere's not much to talk about here really - the thing works...

Great Slate!
I had the privilege of using this on a recent film shoot for my film class and decided to get one of my own. The board pretty much everything you need for slating your movie project, and it is easily cleaned of dry-erase marker ink. In very cold weather the ink tends to stay on, making simple wipe-cleaning difficult, but for cool to warm temperature this is not a problem.Bottom line: take good care of this and it will take care of you. Five stars!

Not promised item, nice board but not what I'm looking for.
I ordered this board because I wanted a clapper that would allow me to list what "shot" I'm on, the clapper in the photo clearly shows there is a spot for that. The one I received isn't only lacking that, but is also missing other features.I did speak to someone from the company, and am awaiting a refund. Apparently they ran out of that particular item, that or their source sent them the wrong items to begin with.The board they sent is well made, and nice if its what you're looking for; but I would like to keep track of my shots.

Bought this months back, works great. Just beware, do NOT use rubbing alcohol to clean and set in dry erase marks, this WILL cause the letter to wipe clean off the board.

Great slate!
I wasn't sure if I should get this slate or another slate I saw on Amazon that had a magnetic clapper. Come to find out this one HAS a magnetic clapper so I was glad I didn't spend the extra money on that item when this one was a bit less expensive. The production slate is solid, works extremely well with my Foray dry-erase markers, and even had a slip of paper with it recommending dry-erase markers to use on it (Foray was one of them). Great price for this slate!.

Great trays--poor shipping
Love the trays and the fact that they were mined in New England, but Amazon was lax about shipping. I ordered 4 to use in a grouping. They were sent in 4 separate shipments--each tray sliding lose and unprotected on the bottom of its box with plastic air bags on top. Thus, one arrived with a big chip off its corner. Amazon did replace it, but the replacement was thinner than the original one and does not match my other 3.

Nice....
This slate is big, heavy and wonderfull to look at. The reason for going with slate is to try and keep the cheese cooler (put this in the fridge the night before a party, that way it's nice and cool when it's time for use) which will prolong the life and taste of the cheese, and it's very easy to clean with no scratching or discoloration. I would recommend, but keep in mind this is a big Cheese Tray.
