WOW
This book really tells a lot about Saturn and its relationships with the rest to astronomy. Saturn, being my favorite celestial body/planet, is so interesting to read about. Also, this book is fairly new, so it has good information. I learned many new things about Saturn from this book and I hope you will too.

Learn a lot about "the jewel of the solar system" in this marvelous book!
Saturn is a beautiful planet and some call it "the jewel of our solar system." If you were to study a sky chart, perhaps you would know where to look for Saturn. It looks like a very bright, shining star. If you were to travel there in a space ship it would take you a good solid three years to get there, but once you arrived you would not be able to step out on the surface because it is known as a "gas giant." With no solid surface you'd sink right in. This beautiful planet, this sixth from the sun, has rings around it. Did you know that one year on Saturn "equals 30 earth years?" There are many fascinating things to learn about this far away planet. In this book, as in all True Books, there are two true or false questions in the front of the book. Only one is true so you'll have to read this book carefully to find out the answers. In this book you'll learn about the atmosphere, the temperature, weather conditions, the history of its rings, the composition of the...

Essential classic psychological guide to Saturn
Having recently re-discovered this early Liz Greene work, I still consider it as one of the best books, if not the best, on Saturn over the last 25 years. Any relative newcomer to astrology would do well to check out the deep psychological perspectives offered here, subtleties that are lost by more simplistic interpretations of Saturn in the chart.Perhaps in contrast to some of her work, the depth and complexity of Liz Greene remains more accessible throughout this book. The layout is straightforward, a consideration of Saturn in each of the four elements (houses and signs) that combines intelligent astrology with fascinating and practical psychological perspectives. Aspects in the chart and synastry are also covered in separate chapters. One of the main themes is the Jungian idea of embracing the dark and sinister side of Saturn as necessary for healthy, holistic self-development. "It is only when the Beast is loved for his own sake that he can be freed from the spell and...

A "must-have" book.
This book has the most insightful interpretations of Saturn in the natal chart that I have ever seen in the 18 years that I have studied astrology. The section on Saturn in synastry alone is worthy of the price you'd pay for this book. I have read relevant sections of this to a friend and this person's relationship was transformed almost overnight, and she thanked me for the clarity that she gained from the information. Saturn is not so intimidating after reading this book!

A must HAVE for all professional Astrologers
Having been a professional astrologer for over 35 years I didn't think I would find much new insight regarding Saturn - BOY WAS I EVER WRONG. This book is fabulous!

Product Description

Have you ever experienced the repeated delays, pressures, and disappointment associated with Saturn's transits and cycles? This classic astrology text, revered by both beginning and professional astrologers alike, offers a fresh perspective on how to handle the influence of this much-maligned astrological symbol.

World-famous astrologer and Jungian analyst Liz Greene brings her unique psychological approach to Saturn, showing us how the frustrating experiences connected to this planet can be turned into opportunities for greater insight and meaning in our lives. Saturn, she says, symbolizes a psychic process--one that allows us to utilize the experience of pain for self-discovery and greater understanding.

Greene traces the character of this most important planet through sign, house, aspect, synastry, and its role in mythology. She offers a brilliant analysis of Saturn to reveal the face of the "Initiator" who, for the price of our honesty, offers us greater consciousness, self-understanding, and, eventually, freedom.

This 35th anniversary edition includes a new foreword by leading astrologer and author Robert Hand. Top to learn more

Spectacular Imagery
The planet Saturn has always facinated people with its yellowish cloud bands and spectacular rings. Now, thanks to the Cassini mission, we all have a ringside seat. This book compiles about 150 of the best Cassini images from Saturn and its moons, many in full color, along with a brief synopsis of the nature of the planet and its moons. Although thin on information, this is a lovely cofee-table book. The images are nothing short of spectacular and are printed with very high quality. Anybody with the slightest interest in Saturn should get this book. It is one of the best photographic books about the planets around.

Our Language Was Not Made for Saturn
On the 30th of July, 1610 Galileo wrote: 'I discovered another very strange wonder, which I should like to make known to their Highnesses . . . , keeping it secret, however, until the time when my work is published . . . . the star of Saturn is not a single star, but is a compsite of three, which almost touch each other, never change or move relative to each other, and are arranged in a row along the zodiac, the middle one being three times larger than the lateral ones, and they are situated in this form: oOo.'His telescope was simply inadequate in power and in optical quality to resolve the rings as anything but blobs to the side of the planet.Centuries later when I was studying astronomy in college we had much better pictures. We knew the outlying 'bodies' were really the rings. Now, mere decades later we have been there. Not physically, but mankind has sent his spacecraft, with sensors, with cameras unimaginably improved over those of the...

Product Description

After a journey of seven years and 2.2 billion miles, the spacecraft Cassini, with a probe named Huygens aboard, reached Saturn in July 2004, beginning a four-year tour to observe the remote planet, its rings, and its moons in depth. As a result of the spectacularly succesful Cassini-Huygens mission, photographs of astounding beauty have come streaming back to Earth, together with enough data to keep hundreds of scientists engrossed for decades. Reproduced here, in unprecedented detail and exquisite, high-quality format, are 150 of the best of those images, among them rings from the unlit side never visible from Earth and panoramas of the surface of Titan, Saturn’s largest moon.

This breathtaking volume, including authoritative essays on the planetary system and the mission, reveals the planet, its ethereally beautiful rings, and its 40+ moons in ways never before seen or recorded.

“Astonishing, amazing, and personal.”

An Entirely Subjective Review
My disclaimers up front. First, I have worked for JPL for close to 20 years; half of my career (including currently and during the entire period these photos were taken) has been spent supporting Cassini directly or indirectly. So there is no way I can even pretend to have an objective perspective. Second, this is my personal review and does not necessarily reflect the views of Cal Tech, JPL or NASA.I love this book. It is so exciting as one small cog working on a mission to see the fruits of my labor being so prominently and publicly displayed. I put out semi-regular "astropics" newsletters to a group of family, friends, and now friends of friends who similarly love astronomy and JPL's missions. If I were to compile my favorite pics out of the years that I have been doing this, many of my favorites would be ones included in this book. I highly recommend this book to any lover of astronomy, old and new to learn the latest that is being revealed by this wonderful...

"It's a nasty job, but someone's got to do it!!!"
Om Amrtesvaryai Namah! A masterful retelling of the "Sani Mahatmyam" with a wonderful personal touch as in all his writings. This book very expertly shows the effects of the planets on one's everyday life, and offers an object lesson in why we must pursue spirituality as if our lives depended on it. (Cause they do!!!!)A wonderful way of showing that Saturn's job is not so much just to give us all a hard time, but rather to help us turn inward to the real help we might find from the Divine within.i loved every page, and many of them were wet with tears. All i can say is Thankyou Robert Svoboda, and when may we expect the next delicious morsel from you? Om Namah Sivaya! visvanathan

THANKS TO THIS BOOK, I FEAR SATURN NO LONGER..
I've studied Western astrology for over 30 years. I would always have a feeling of fear around the planet Saturn, whether in a natal chart or transit. I learned about this book in the Book Reviews of The Mountain Astrologer magazine, a publication I find a necessity of life! When I bought the book, I was going through some major life challenges. This book taught me that I needed an attitude adjustment when it came to Saturn. Due to this book, I did not give up on myself during those challenges. Two years later, I find that things I used to dread I now welcome into my life because they've helped me grow spiritually. Saturn has taught me, through the mythology in this book, how to RESPECT boundaries and limits. More importantly, it has helped ME set boundaries (around myself) for others to respect. This is a book you must read if you are an astrologist. This is about great wisdom of the ages which we can apply in our lives today! Blessings...

This book will heal you
This is about the greatness of a book. In a sensitive way Robert Svoboda tells us an old story from India. He tells it in a way that touches the soul, not just the mind. This book will not just inform you, it will heal you. In Vedic Astrology, the planet Saturn causes a lot of trouble. If something goes wrong in your life you can bet Saturn has something to do with it. You should not run away from Saturn. You should embrace Lord Saturn, who certainly has his own beauty. That is what this book is about. This book will help you to become friends with Lord Saturn. It will definitely change your life.

Seymour's Saturn Enthralled Our 5 Year Old
This was a Christmas present for our 5 yr old. The Little Einsteins TV show had an episode about Saturn & its rings. This made him incredibly curious about Saturn and he requested a book. We are so glad we tried this one first. He reads it continually and has many of Seymour Simon's other books about our solar system. He loves them so much and has started sharing them with some of his friends. He constantly relates planetary trivia to me which shows me that he's not just looking at the pictures. This Saturn book is written incredibly well. I'm amazed at how Seymour Simon can speak to a 5 yr old and adults. The artwork and photographs within the book are incredible. I love this and all of Mr. Simon's books we've seen so far. I highly recommend this as a reading tool for any kid that is interested in planets or space in general. If they love the book, they'll keep reading!

Great educational book for kids
Like all of Seymour Simon's planet books, Saturn is an excellent non-fiction book for children. It gives exciting factual information about the planet including what its rings are made of and information about it's moons. The book is especially exciting for children because of the real pictures of Saturn that intrigue them to learn more about our solar system.

Good gift for curious children
My wife and I have owned a series of Saturn vehicles and our oldest son (5 years old) kept asking us about the name, so we explained the car company a little and mentioned that there is a planet by the same name.He was thrilled and started asking us about details. This book thankfully covered a lot of those questions and has great pictures to go a long with the text.It covers the standard things, rings, moons, size & distance comparisons to the other planets in our solar system. No complaints.
