TERRIFIC SPEAKERS!
Purchased Creature Speakers for my husband's work computer 8 years ago. Loved them so much I bought a set for my computer. Had them a little over 7 years. We had some breakers blow at the office and it destroyed the subwoofer. So I looked around and ended up purchasing the same ones! I love them. The sound is GREAT! Love the new black color and design. Very easy to install. Best price for what you get. The one BIG draw back with this set is the wires are too short. Had to move the subwoofer up behind my monitor. It used to be on the floor.

Cool speakers, positively great sound but not good support
I bought these speakers to give my laptop good kicking sound. The price is right for the sound and sheer coolness of the design speaks for itself. It's incredible that such crisp treble and kickin' bass is packed into a small speaker set. This is another reason that moved me to get these: they fitted my small home desk very neatly, although the base was a bit bigger than i expected.On the down side, the treble and bass controls are the inverse of what is printed in the base. Rotating the treble control towards the + sign actually decreases the treble. The same happens with the bass control. It's a minor annoyance but i would expect the people at JBL to get something as simple as this straight. Tech support was not helpful and their first response was a bit on the impolite side. The people at JBL say this counter-intuitively operation is actually the way they were designed. I ended up returning the first speaker set i got because whenever i moved the left speaker a little...

Awesome Little Sound Dock
A lot of bang for the buck. I purchased the JBL OnStage IV portable sound dock for our RV and the JBL OnBeat for our master bedroom. Both of these docks put out incredible sound quality for their size and price point. I don't like booming or thumping music filled with a lot of bass so these docks are perfect for our needs. Both offer small footprints and are very attractive in appearance. If you're looking for a very nice sound dock without overpowering bass and a price that is in line with the product, you can't go wrong with either system.*Note: Both sound docks work with the iPhone 4 which I have (in addition to older models) and the JBL On Beat also accommodates my iPad (original).

HAPPY CUSTOMER WITH RESERVATIONS
I was looking forward to this loudspeaker device and I'm happy with it even if I cannot use it as originally intended. I use my iPad as a small tv in the kitchen and figured this would be much better than my current cover that allows perfect viewing but does not help add any volume to my iPad if I move across the room. Unfortunately, this JBL loudspeaker does not help me with this wish but it does have other great uses.It looks great with its cool and compact design. It provides plenty of volume and fills even a large room but does not perform as well on heavy bass with its simple two speaker system. I thought the sound quality was very good. I was less pleased with the power button being located at the very back (inconvenient). On the back there is also the power plug (no option of batteries), usb port, audio in (for use with other mp3 players) and a video port. The remote control is slim and basic but provides all the controls needed.It works...

All I can say is WOW!!!!
Let me start by saying I am REALLY REALLY REALLY picky about the quality of sound. I needed a pair of speakers for my office (I have an older pair of speakers that I hook my iPod up to that I wanted to replace.) Well, I came across these and then searched for as many reviews as I could about them...most of the reviews turned out to be very good as a matter of fact! After doing a search for them, I saw they were available at Office Depot so decided to purchase them in-store...however, when I went there I did not see them and was told by a sales associate they were only available at their online store. The (very nice) gentleman then convinced me to rather go for some Logitech x-230 speakers with a sub-woofer. Very hesitantly, I decided to take a chance. Well, after plugging them in and listening to a sample of music, I unplugged them 1/2 a minute later and returned them the next day. I then decided to go ahead an purchase these JBL Duet speakers. Wow! Incredibly good sound for such small, inexpensive speakers
I'm an audio engineer, and I'm NOT easily impressed, but these little speakers are the best-sounding personal speakers I've ever heard. In fact, they're better than many larger, pricier systems.The bass response is the biggest surprise. It's natural-sounding and open, not stuffy or forced, yet it has a surprising amount of punch for such small speakers, without being the slightest bit "boomy". To my ears in my listening environment, they have an amazingly smooth frequency response across the entire audible range.In case you think I'm kidding, I usually mix on a pair of Genelec tri-amped studio monitors whose price tag was more than 100 times that of the JBL Duet speakers. On several occasions, I've opened GarageBand or Logic Pro 7 to record a musical idea and ended up doing a rough mix, forgetting that I was listening to the Duet speakers rather than the big monitors. From an avid amateur audiophile and student
Let me preface by saying I consider myself an audiophile but not an annoying music snob or superior techie geek. I am into technology just enough to get the sound quality I want and I'm willing to pay handsomely for it. This advanced sound system with the ability to connect Apple gadgets and any other audio devices will look great in the office, at home and in a spacecraft. But its primary function - audio playback is just average, and thus makes this system unreasonably expensive.Design. The sound system looks alien and futuristic - something Luke Skywalker from "Star Wars" would use. Subtle improvements over the previous version
I've owned the Soundsticks III for close to a month now and have been thoroughly impressed. Harman claims the new model provides the same audio quality as the previous edition. The new version III audio cables are silver braided and clear. Other changes include black bases on the satellites, the black sub volume dial is also the power on/off switch, and there is a white led light in the sub. Input voltage on the power transformer is 100v-240v, so it will work outside the US without the use of a converter. One thing worth noting, since it is not in the manual, is that the satellite with the volume controls is the right speaker.I find the sound stage to be vivid and non-fatiguing. The instruments and voices are crisp and detailed. I mainly listen to 80's, classic rock, and metal, and all appear to be clear and balanced. I can easily listen for extended periods without being fatigued. IMO this is one of the best 2.1 computer speaker systems available. You will not be...

space-age-jelly-fish speakers!
My husband just gave me a pair of these for an early xmas present. I love the way they look, but was a little freaked out when they came out of the box due to the size of the subwoofer...these are for my desk. But we hooked them up and within minutes I was a super happy camper. The sound is clear and crisp and the bass is adjustable. For the person who said that you can't turn these off, you can if you press down the bass control knob. The sticks are attached to a heavy black donut shaped base and you can adjust how they sit on the base so you can point them at your head rather than your chest. One of the sticks has touch volume controls and if you touch both at the same time the sound is muted.So far I love them. Going to really enjoy listening to music again. I would totally recommend them to a friend.

Sound specifics
I am a musician.These speakers look great; that is the main reason I bought them. I do wish the sound quality was better. The sound quality is above average, but not great. However, I was able to use software graphic equilizer to adjust the sound to a better balance.The frequency response is uneven. The tweeters are all very small speakers, 1.25 inch wide, with one woofer unit. Since there are no mid-range speakers, the mid range is compromised. It is not all bad though.The best feature is great top end response from these little tweeters. Above 8K hz and 16K hz, the sound is very crisp and clear. As I generally like good meaty bass, with high crispness, this is not bad.The clear plastic bass unit is great to look at, but cannot match the sound of a square wooden box - as is true for concert halls. LOUD and LOW!!
When I bought this subwoofer I was skeptical of it's ability to produce very low frequencies. The data sheet on the JBL website looked good, especially for a speaker which is suited for such a small sealed enclosure. I made a box out of 3/4" MDF with an interior volume of about 0.3 cubic feet (appxox. 10" x 10" x 8 3/4" outside.) This little speaker makes some really low notes, and very loudly! This speaker is efficient- makes a lot of noise with a fairly small amount of power. I'm using an amp rated for 125 watts RMS (even though JBL claims it will handle 200 watts RMS) and I wouldn't want it any louder! After a few songs at max. volume my ears are ringing and I have a headache! It's as loud as a 10" bass tube I had in the 90's, and can be heard very loudly outside of the car.It really hits with the lowest kick drum thumps, and sounds great playing hip-hop and regae with low synthesized bass notes. Great sub
I have one of these in a sealed box under that back seat of my F150 and it sounds great. It plays very loud and low for an 8" and it only needs a .3 cubic ft sealed box. has great cone excursion. It plays very clear and tight. Double bass sounds very good. I would defiantly recommend it to anyone that wants good bass in a small spot.

Reduced depth sub, compared to what? It's huge! No chance of fitting in the stock sub location in my Yukon XL, but fit beautifully in the qlogic .35cu/ft box under the dash. I'm feeding it from a 500w RMS Kenwood sub amp. Hits hard, goes deep. Has at least the 7/16" xmax specced. Hits much harder than the MTX DVC 8" that was in that box previously.
