Bought it for my Kid. Now I'm buying it for myself!
I bough this amp for my 9 year old son who is learning guitar for his Christmas present. I thought that since I love Fender guitars and since he has a mini Squier we'd like to get something in the Fender Family. I seriously expected a cheap imitation of a Line 6 Spider with a Fender logo slapped on it. I should have had more faith in Fender.I am blown away by the sounds that come out of this amp. The AMP models are far more real and interesting sounding than any modeling tool I have ever used. The amps don't sound digital or processed, they actually sound overdriven when you crank the gain. You would swear that there are tubes in this thing when you listen to it. I can't get over the Bassman, the twin Reverb and the Deluxe. They sound so full and strong. My biggest compliment of the Mustang is that it is the ONLY modeling amp that has great sounding Vintage tones. Line 6 has tons of metal stuff, and a lot of weird niche tones. Vox has never really made...

Best use for $99 in equipment !
I was skeptical about this amp, since it was so cheap, yet had all these features. Youtube and the Fender website allowed me to watch videos that impressed me. I took a chance and decided to go with the Mustang 1. I am glad I took the risk, cause this amp is simply amazing. First, without the software, it would make an incredible amp, combined with the FUSE software, it is over the top! With Fuse, you can add nearly any effect, and alter the effects just like you could on real pedals, so much more in depth and detailed than even my expensive multi-effects units! Fuse is simple to use as well, although the other 2 software programs, Ableton and Amplitube, do NOT impress me. Ampltube works, but I don't know what it is used for other than bypassing the Mustang and playing through your PC speakers. Ableton just doesn't seem to work. It loads up, and I can tell that it's working, but I can't get it to record ( which was one of the reasons I was interested in this amp ). The amp...

Kicks
Have had this amp for a few weeks and my son and I can't stop messing with it. We are constantly finding new sounds. Connecting the online software gives you even more sounds and more control. We have dialed in everything from an old Fender Bassman to a Vox AC30 to a Marshall with so many effects that you'll never need a pedal again. Unreal for $!00.

Fender Mustang I Amp
LOUD

The 20-watt Mustang I and the 40-watt Mustang II are great for practice and jam sessions. An 1/8” headphone jack lets you play loud, even if only for yourself.

USB CONNECTIVITY

Connect Mustang to your computer with free Fender® FUSE™ software. Open up a world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, additional effects, unlimited preset storage, online preset swapping with the Fender® FUSE™ community, and free Fender artist presets.

Control Panel

Mustang runs from a very simple control interface, which includes gain, volume, treble, bass, master, preset select, modulation select, delay/reverb select, save button, exit button, tap tempo button — all easily navigated.

Amp Modeling

Mustang™ I and II contain 24 highly accurate onboard amp models with tones from vintage Fender® sparkle to outrageous modern metal distortion. Easily connect to your computer to add to the number of amp models, too.

Mustang™ I and II give you 24 individual amp presets arranged in three banks of 8 (i.e., three ’57 Deluxe™ presets, three Brit ’60s presets, etc.). These presets are easily and instantly dialed up using the “preset” knob (or from your footswitch or computer). Turn this knob to scroll through each of the three preset banks, which are indicated on the control panel by LED columns colored amber, green and red.

The red and green banks are for creating your own presets; the amber bank can only be modified using Fender® FUSE™ software.

MUSTANG I amplifier modeling preset controls
Modulation Effects

Mustang further sculpts your sound with 12 sweeping, swooping and shimmering adjustable modulation effects, including chorus, phaser, flanger, vibratone, tremolo, step filter and octaver. Use your computer to add more effects, too.

MUSTANG™ I & MUSTANG™ II modulation effects control knob
Delay / Reverb Effects

Mustang makes the room resound with 12 easily adjustable delay and reverb effects ranging from subtle to cavernous, including tape delay, stereo/mono delay and room/plate/hall reverb.

Mustang I and II each have 24 effects controlled by two simple selection knobs on the control panel. The first knob (“MOD”) controls 12 modulation effects; the second (“DLY/REV”) controls 12 delay/reverb effect

MUSTANG™ I Effect Level Controls

The MOD and DLY/REV knobs share the same three selection indicator LEDS. These LEDS are numbered 1, 2, and 3, and they correspond to the three positions within each of the selection ranges, labeled A, B, C and D on each knob (see the Mustang I/II manual for a table listing the effects selection for each knob). Use the LEDs to determine exactly which position the knob is pointing to (using the factory settings of the “MOD” knob, for example, position 1 in the A selection range gives you chorus, position 2 in the A selection range gives you deep chorus, and position 3 in the A selection range gives you flanging).

Adjusting the effects levels on Mustang I and II couldn’t be easier—simply hold down the “EXIT” button while turning the “MOD” or “DLY/REV” knobs. Doing this adjusts “how much” of a particular effect you’ll get, according to your personal preference.

USB Connection

Mustang includes USB connectivity for high-quality, low-latency audio output, and to engage the Fender® FUSE™ software application for PC and Mac. This opens up a world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, unlimited preset storage, online preset swapping with the Fender® FUSE™ community, and free Fender artist presets.

Tuner

Onboard chromatic tuner puts intonation right on the money quickly and easily.

Onboard Chormatic Tuner

Sleek and modern Fender styling provides a look that’s as desirable as the sound. Mustang has Fender’s classic silver grille cloth, and is covered in tough, great-looking “carbon tweed” black textured vinyl.

This Pony Packs a Punch
I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this amplifier. Fender has really packed a load of usable features into an affordable, excellent sounding package. I've had the amp for two weeks now and am still exploring all of its capabilities, but it's one of the most exciting guitar products to come my way in years.First of all, the different amp presets sound absolutely killer and the included FUSE software allows for easy editing and you can store an unlimited number of presets on your computer. There are many amp models and effects to choose from and the FUSE interface is so simple even an old school knob twirler like myself can handle it. Using the computer, you can replace the factory presets on the amp with your own, making it a truly custom amplifier.Secondly, I was really impressed with the sound I can get from the amplifier. I have always preferred tube to solid state and this is the first modeling amp I've really been impressed with. It just...

Best Modeling Amp for Vintage Tones.
As far as amps that model vintage tones. This is the best. For my ear, Line 6, Vox, Crate, Digitech etc are nowhere near the Fender Mustang if you are comparing Vintage tones.I have played amps and effects from many companies, as well as many of the 'hybrid amps' that combine tube and digital tones, and if you are looking for the best recreation of Vintage Blues, Rock, Hard Rock, Country tones... the type of tones that you get from some of the famed Fender amps, the Mustang Series is as good as you are going to do.I originally bought the Mustang I for my 9 year old son to be his first practice amp and when we hooked it up for him, I could hardly let him play. The tone editing is easy through the controls on the amp. It is easy and straight forward to see what you need to do to tweak your sound just by turning knobs. When you add the Fender FUSE to the mix and start to download new tones from the web and tweak it with dozens of stomp...

Huge improvement over G-Dec. Wished I had bought the Mustang III
I passed on all the Fender G-Dec units for years,(still glad I did), instead buying the Line 6 Spyder Jam and then a Line 6 Spyder IV. They are both great amps for sure, but for the money, Fender has really got this one right. The clean tones on this are just great. The ability to modify with FUSE is an additional layer of gravy. The amp is just about perfect for bedroom, studio or practice. I bet more than a few of these quietly show up in Nashville studios...I still love my Line 6 units, especially my Spyder Jam cause I can play along with tracks, and I love the accuracy of the models in the Line 6 Spyder IV. But if you are in the market for a great practice amp, or an amp that will take you from super clean to vintage dirty for special effects on a demo, Fender hits the mark on this one. It's just ridiculous what is in this for $199.I compared this to a VOX Valve modeling amp, not even a contest. Against a Spyder IV, individual tastes will vary.Only complaint...

Best Modeling Amp for Vintage Tones.
ConstructionThis Amp certainly looks sharp. It is not nearly as heavy as I would expect a 100W amp to be, but seems well put together.ControlsThe III comes with a 2 button Foot Pedal which feels very solid and works perfectly. (You can expand to add an optional 4 button switch that Fender sells separately and also includes in the IV and V.)On the amp, you have separate EQ knobs (Treble, Mids and Low) you have a gain, a volume, a Master Volume and a Reverb. Along with these, you also have an LCD screen that tells you which amp model you are using with witch pedals, presets, delays and reverbs. You also have separate buttons for changing Amp models, reverb, delays and modulation effects. The large knob on the top actually scrolls through presets, and once you press it, you can go into deep editing of the amp models, effects and presets. The controls are intuitive and easy to use. It is a great mix of visual digital feedback as well as...

Fantastic
It took me a few days of fiddling with all the amp and effects options to create my own personal presets for my playing styles. But the sound is unbeatable without thousands invested in separate amps and effects--and a warehouse to keep them all in! The clean sound is as good as it gets. The metal sound is too. You can also get a very good warm (or sharp) bluesy overdriven tube sound. I've played tube amps for years and I can't detect any significant difference between the Mustang III and a real tube amp. Maybe Eric Clapton could, but I can't. The are a couple of minor downsides that I can tell: First, the amp does not remember the setting it was on when it was turned off--it always turns on to preset 00--and it does not hold temporary setting changes when flipping between presets. For example, say you decide to temporarily use a wide delay effect on a favorite preset, but then want to hold that while switching to another preset...it won't do it. In order to do that you have to have...

FANTASTIC AMP!!
I just bought this and have already used it for two band practices. It came through like a champ. It was loud and clear. I've tried it with an Epiphone Les Paul Standard (SLASH MODEL), a Musicman/Sterling John Petrucci, and a PRS SE Singlecut. Sounds great with all of them. I also use it for practicing songs and learning new ones. For that, I've got it parked next to my computer, and sounds great even at low volumes.I had to buy a mono adapter and a mono guitar cable to plug into this while recording. The line out is one of those small plugs (like the ones on an IPOD), and not the standard 1/4 inch type. Plus, you HAVE to use a mono adapter and mono guitar cable for it to sound right. It sounds like crap if you use stereo ones. Once I got this adapter at Radio Shack... I was able to plug into my preamp and go right into Pro Tools. Sounded great!Fender, next time... make the line out plug a 1/2 inch one, please?I actually like some of the...

The new Pawn Shop Series guitars draw inspiration from the eccentric and sometimes wildly innovative Fender creations of the mid-'60s and mid-'70s era that sometimes found their way to the outside world and into the more esoteric pages of Fender history. With this adventurous spirit in mind, Pawn Shop Series instruments emerge as all-new Fender guitars with a boldly creative alchemy of diverse Fender components. And while they are brand-new members of the Fender family crafted with thoroughly modern sound and quality, Pawn Shop Series instruments now take the stage with a remarkable new identity as "guitars that never were but should have been." It does the job well enough
It works, and is cheap compared to other options. Is basic lightweight construction, but this is not meant for heavy gigging - it hooks up to a practice/jamming amp after all.Only annoyance so far is the right angled plug, which does relieve cable stress, has to be in the "just right" position to not get in the way of the input socket or the gain control on the Mustang I/II. Not a big problem considering intended usage.Great for the price.

Fender 1-Button FootSwitch
I must say I like having this but it could be so much better really. It would have been nice to have a foot control with the same features Fender provided with the stepped up models of amps. It kinda reminds me of a low water switch we have in the basement to warn us of flooding. So, it is very basic and I don't use it much but I tend to be a gadget nut. Bottom line is that okay and thats it.

I am actually selling my nice Tube amp and using the Mustang as my only amp for now, and I feel like I am not missing out on any features or downgrading my sound at all. Further, connect Mustang I to your computer with free Fender FUSE software. Fuse is simple to use as well, although the other 2 software programs, Ableton and Amplitube, do NOT impress me. Ampltube works, but I don’t know what it is used for other than bypassing the Mustang and playing through your PC speakers. My biggest compliment of the Mustang is that it is the ONLY modeling amp that has great sounding Vintage tones. Youtube and the Fender website allowed me to watch videos that impressed me. Open up a world of possibilities, including on-screen parameter control, deep editing, additional ef. 20 Watts 1-8″ Fender Special Design Speaker One channel (with 24 presets) Controls: Gain, Volume, Treble, Bass, Master, Preset Select, Modulation...
