The Duke!
I recently purchased a 2011 Ducati 1198 Superbike. Needless to say, it's an amazing machine capable of astonishing speed and torque. Plus, it's probably the most gorgeous bike on the market, putting all others (CBR, R1, GSXR, Ninja, RC8, S1000) to shame. To celebrate my purchase, I decided to get a model/toy replica for the office. When it arrived I noticed that the toy wasn't exactly the sturdiest. It's 100% diecast plastic with some very small parts. I was a little worried it would break as I was taking it out of the package. It's held into place with several wire twisties, one of which was wrapped around the steering damper. That damper is a very small piece of plastic that could easily snap off. After some careful negotiating, I was able to get the twisty off with no damage done. It's probably not meant for children to play with because it's so fragile, especially kids 3 and under. As far as I can tell, it's nearly an exact replica of the original... Top to learn more
Great for the collector!
I bought this as a silly gift for my boyfriend who's a nut for motorcycles! He has a Ducati, but he doesn't know how to ride it and has already fallen twice so I don't let him ride it! and NOW, he can have his Ducati motorcycle and I can have peace of mind! :) Top to learn more

The original and the best - this is the fifth edition of the first Ducati book over published. It was originally published in 1996 and has been in print ever since. It has comprehensive coverage with nearly 250 color photographs and fact-packed text. A peerless and competitively priced guide to the world's most charismatic motorcycle make.
Take the 4th edition, add updated Ducati info, slap on a photo of Rossi and the GP11: This is the 5th edition.
The Ducati Story - Fifth Edition (2011)The picture of Valentino Rossi on the Ducati Desmosedici GP11 is very alluring for Ducati fans. For those with previous editions, you might find the earlier sections to be repetitive. I purchased the Fifth Edition mainly because I am interested in the newer Ducati motorcycles, probably right after they entered MotoGP in 2003. The older models and designs weren't as appealing to me, and I know many diehard Ducati enthusiasts will probably berate this review for that comment. However, it took me well over 10 years to really get into motorcycles because I felt all of the designs, styling, and technology was either boring, unappealing, or antiquated (carburetors in the late 1990s while every car was MPFI) or a combination of each.As a result, I skimmed the earlier history of Ducati but took note of the early design cues and elements, especially when the Desmodromic valve system was deployed. I had already learned a great deal...

Product Description
All ASV levers feature a special pivot design that allows the lever to fold out of harms way in the event of a crash or tip-over of the bike. Instead of bending or breaking, ASV levers simply pivot outward when impact occurs, and spring back instantly. The pivot junction uses a pair of high quality chrome steel, ABEC rated precision sealed bearings for years of smooth operation and zero "play" or "slop". A special high-tension Chrome Silicon cantilever spring returns the lever back to its original position instantly and does not allow the lever to pivot at all while riding. This high quality spring is rated for over 100,000 rotations without losing it's original tension. All ASV levers feature an adjustable reach. By simply adjusting a setscrew on the lever, the reach (distance from the handle bar to the lever) can be adjusted to accommodate the smallest to the largest hands. A specially designed acorn style lock nut keeps the setscrew secured in your desired position and is out of harms way. All ASV levers use the same high quality components including chrome steel precision sealed bearings, stainless steel pivot and bushing parts, Chrome Silicon cantilever springs, aerospace grade stainless steel and chromoly fasteners, and specially designed and manufactured fasteners. ASV levers are also completely rebuildable and serviceable with no special tools required. All ASV levers include a guarantee against breakage.

Steady, easy going narrative voice is a pleasure to read.
This well written book takes the reader on an informative and rewarding journey through the author's thoughts and experiences about motorcycling. If you ride, take the MSF courses, and read books about motorcycles, there is probably not a whole lot of new information in here, but there is almost certainly something that you haven't thought about in detail lately, or a new perspective on something. Most likely, there will be a number of good tidbits, insights, and a few "aha" moments.Perhaps more importantly, this book is a pleasure to read. The author's narrative voice is easy going, well paced, and descriptive. His mature, good natured attitude shines on every page, and that alone makes the book well worth the time and the small expense. Top to learn more
Well worth reading
This is a refreshing read. The guy knows of what he speaks. Mr Preston writes with zest and passion. A light touch with a sense of humour is refreshing. Enough common sense and wisdom for a 60 year old rider to be impressed & unable to put it down. He solidifies the bonds amongst motorcycle brothers & sisters. Top to learn more

Customer Review
Works good.
Customer Video Review Length:: 0:15 MinsI tried out the biologic mount today in the toughest test I could come up with: 25 miles of bumpy gravel roads on my cyclocross bike, during the winter, while it was sporadically raining. Verdict: it did great, with the mount not moving at all even with 30mph bumpy descents across washboard dirt roads on road tires. The phone stayed dry in the rain, I could read the screen easily whenever I needed it and I could even shoot video like this while riding with the front facing camera.About the only issue I found with it was using full fingered winter gloves made the touch screen a little tough to register, but once I took my gloves off, it worked great. Way More Than I Expected
This is perhaps my favorite Amazon purchase in a long, long time. I put this case to test this past Saturday on a drizzly San Antonio morning bike ride. This was an urban ride, over railroad tracks, potholes, etc. which tested the case's mounting hardware. The drizzly rain tested the watertight capablility of the case.First of all, the engineering that went into this is exacting. There is no cheap feel to this product. It feels substantial and appears to be made of high quality materials. Although pelted with rain, the IPhone remained dry and snug inside. The handlebar mount is far superior to any similar product I've purchased before for lights, bike computers, etc. I would almost say it is military grade hardware. I bought the case for an IPhone 4, but the case comes with an additional insert for an IPhone 3 if that's what you have.I mounted this on the right side of the handlebar as viewed from the rider's perspective. The case swivels and can be... Top to learn more
Has worked fine for 1 year with aggressive MTB.
I have ridden for over 2 years with a biologic case. Initially the previous version and, since it's release, the iPhone 4 version. I ride over 200 times a year and always with the iPhone on the bars.I see others have had problems but this one has fit well and been water-tight. I carry an extra plastic sandwich bag and a rubber band though in case I get caught in a downpour. I wouldn't trust anything in that situation. So far I've only put the bag on twice though. The past version did not have that great a clasp and I had to put an rubber band around it for extra security. This one works securely though. The bar mount itself is not that great because if you go too tight it will slip. It still stays tight, but you just can't overdo it. It means, that the mount always has the ability to move if you need to change position, and still stay secure. But I'd like it more if I could lock it down totally. It would certainly feel more secure. You may want to... Top to learn more

Justin once said he is not the kind that goes around spending money on expensive stuff, but lately since he became 18 he is spending even more. And if you think about for a bit guys, its OUR money they spend, the CDs we buy, DVDs, iTunes, merchandise etc.

Volkswagen's Audi unit has agreed to buy thoroughbred Italian motorcycle maker Ducati for about 860 million euros ($US1. One source said Ducati's debt was well below 200 million euros in an acquisition analysts said lacked obvious benefits for premium carmaker Audi and did little but polish Piech's reputation as a collector of rare and exotic brands. The deal allows VW chairman Ferdinand Piech, who has long coveted Ducati and himself owns one of their superbikes, to make up for a missed opportunity nearly 30 years ago to buy the maker of the fire-engine red 1199 Panigale, which boasts "the... "I would still like a small, valuable motorcycle manufacturer," Piech revealed in an interview with a German magazine from April 2008, complaining that he should have jumped at the chance to buy Ducati in 1985 when it cost "peanuts". Ducati, which has won 13 rider's Superbike World Championships since 1988, will increase the VW group's brand portfolio to 12 and extend Audi's long-standing rivalry with Bayerische Motoren Werke to superbikes. Outgoing owner Investindustrial last listed Ducati's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) at 71 million euros for 2010, on revenue just above 390 million - a drop in the bucket for Germany's most profitable... "The Ducati purchase is driven by VW's passion for nameplates rather than industrial or financial logic," said Arndt Ellinghorst, analyst at London-based Credit Suisse. Ducati makes about 40,000 two-wheelers a year across its range of cruiser, supermoto, adventure, naked and superbikes that include the muscular Diavel and dual sport Hypermotard.

2011 Superbike Smackdown VIII Street Conclusion
If I was more on a budget I'd buy the CBR or Suzuki. I've owned both brands of bikes before and I know they are tough and would last a long time. But if I had the cash I would buy the Beemer. For the money the performance it delivers is almost too good
2011 Ducati Diavel Carbon Test and Video
That's not the Ducati Diavel. It's more like the Porsche Panamera of motorcycles. A bike with questionable styling that leaves some in awe and others in disgust. But even if you don't buy into the top-heavy, wide-shouldered design, it's hard not to
