Very Nice. You can record different stations while away from home. Works great with a VCR
I only have an outdoor TV antenna. No cable or satellite. I too bought this converter for the built in timer. You can record different channels at different times while you're away from home with your VCR and TV antenna (However, you can not record one station and watch another station "at the same time"). You have to set your TV and VCR to channel 3 (always) and the timer in this converter is what you set for the time and channel to record. Make sure the clock time on the converter box matches the clock time on your VCR. Or you may miss part of your show. There is one problem that I haven't figured out yet. I hooked this converter to the TV in my living room. My outdoor antenna cable line continues on and goes to the bedroom and the TV in the bedroom only plays the channel that the converter box is on in the living room. I have 2 of these converter boxes and so I hooked the second one up in the bedroom. It receives no channel signals. Well, that didn't last long since I...

Pretty good, but not outstanding
I've been playing around with three DTV converter boxes over the past three months (, , and this Zinwell), and none of them stands out above the rest. They all do about the same thing, providing excellent picture quality over their analog equivalents, and I can get 27/28 channels with a rooftop antenna in the Baltimore-Washington area. Pros:Video and sound quality is excellent.It has outputs for DVI/HDMI/Component video and standard video.After auto-tuning one can manually delete channels (feature not documented in the manual or online).Remote is very simple, but does what it was designed to do well.Firmware is upgradable via USB flash drive.It seems to be very energy efficient. It does not get very hot and also has an auto power off feature.All the expensive(HDMI/DVI) cables/connectors are included. Audio, component and AV cables are not included, but they are cheap enough to get yourself if needed.Cons:Manual and website could better describe all the products features.Cycling through the different output combinations can be a bit confusing, again just not documented clearly.One of my auto-scanned channels came up as a channel number/text combination and there is no way to select it to be deleted.Deleting channels is a pain since one...

Great OTA tuner
First off, I'd like to say that I finally decided to get rid of my cable TV subscription after all these years. Paying more than $1000 a year for cable just doesn't justify getting 500 channels (for a TV that costs $500!), which I hardly watch anyway! Comcast is the only cable company in my area so I'm stuck with a $100 a month subscription. That said, this tuner is worth more than the $100 I paid for. Also, with a better antenna (for about $50), you can get even more channels than you need. I was able to scan 25 channels and I live on the first floor in a busy, apartment complex in Northern VA!I've been using this tuner for 2 days now and it's working almost flawlessly (very few dropouts through DVI-D to HDMI connection) so I'm very, very happy with its performance. I will, however, say that the sound through HDMI has all sorts of dropouts (I suspect that it's the HDMI cable that is causing this problem, so I probably will buy a new and better cable later to try...

Serves My Purpose Well
I purchased the Kworld HDMI edition HD TV Tuner in order to get all of my local channels in 720p and 1080i. My LCD only had one cable/antenna input with a tuner but both extra HDMI and component inputs. My cable service only provides about half of the local stations available. The tuner is up and running now and providing excellent reception and HD pictures.I initially had trouble in that the tuner would freeze on a weak station and I would then have to reboot the tuner. A call to Kworld's US based tech support (949-450-0052) identified new firmware which they sent me via email as an attachment. It installed easily after I discovered the flash drive I was using was partitioned into 2 drives. Kworld requires that the firmware be downloaded on a clean flash drive in order to transfer the upgrade to the tuner in the configuration I was using (other options available depending on the equipment you are using). An "Okay" 'Pretty Good' DTV converter box by COBY
Converter boxes will become increasingly scarce next few months. Prefered brands sold out on Amazon, so got this one. ALLOWS Analog PassThrough. It does have menu choise to set Time Zone, but NO option to Turn Off Day-Light Savings which may be issue in Arizona. The "Program Guide" will only go ONE program into future (some brands go 3 - 4 hours ahead) Big annoyance, is the COBY Remote that comes with it, TURNS OFF Sanyo TV its connected to, when you push "Up Channel" button! and other buttons on COBY remote cause various menus & input channels on TV to pop up at inopportune times! I've notice COBY remote for DVD player I have does same thing on TVs in Hotel Rooms! I DID like the menu option that lets you program screen orientation (widescreen, letterbox, full) to be "Set By Program" which is where I set it. One odd thing about this DTV box (I have 3 other brands and they just have visual) is for the Channel Signal Strength Bar it ALSO has audible BEEPING coinciding with signal...

COBY digital converter box DTV102
My Digital Stream box quit after 9 mos. so I bought this one. You should know that unlike the Digital Stream box, this one has no provision for operating the TV it is connected to. So you must use one remote to control TV volume and on/ off , and another to change channels. The COBY box did not pass analog channels as promised (yes, I turned it off). It also was not able to see some of the channels the Digital Stream box could. But the DS box costs more than twice as much as the COBY. I guess you get what you pay for.

I order this unit on a Monday morning and it was shipped, by standard shipping, to my house the very next day (super fast). I have three computer monitors just laying around going to waste, so I order two of these units so that I could use two of the monitors as extra tv sets. When I hooked up the tuner boxes to my monitors I did not believe what a fantastic picture I have on both monitors. I own a few high end, high def tv's (lcd and plasma), and I am always having to playing around with the antenna to get a good high def digital reception. Most of the tv transmitters in my area are about 30 miles away from my house. Out of curiosity I hooked up one of these K-world tuners to my Sony hdtv and bypassed the tv's internal tuner. Oh-My-Gosh! The reception improvement was fantastic! No more messing around with having to perfectly aim the antenna, just aim the antenna in the general direction of the tv transmitters and you get perfect reception. Kworld external high def over the air receiver works great!
Last year I bought a Kworld usb HD tuner for my laptop computer. I really liked it, so I was eager to try Kworld's stand alone HD tuners.The box is very good at picking up stations. I can get more than 40 digital channels just by putting the included pole antenna in an upstairs window. By the way, the included antenna has a magnetic base that is capable of defying gravity and it is really handy. I placed mine horizontally near the top of my window. My channels all lock in solid, and the picture is fabulous. The menu is easy to follow. For example, I easily made the picture brighter than the factory default setting. The instructions and the remote could be better. The remote has a couple buttons that reset the output; you can make your picture disappear if you hit them by accident. Local over the air broadcasters went through the digital transition 2 years ago. At that time cable users didn't have to concern themselves with the digital transition. Now that the cable companies are going through their own digital transition, there is no denying it, all our old analog equipment needs to be equipped with a digital to analog adapter (DTA) to continue to be useful.Most digital set top boxes were designed to meet the government standard for the coupons that were available in 2009. Those boxes only tune in Over The Air signals (OTA). Cable signals are sent in a different format. Digital cable signals are sent in either clear QAM or scrambled QAM. Digital OTA signals are sent in ASTC format. This converter is capable of receiving CLEAR QAM and ATSC signals. Finding a box that does both QAM and ATSC is tricky. Value-priced clear-QAM cable box
I just bought and installed two of these. The main claim to fame for this box is that it decodes clear QAM on cable in addition to off-air ATSC. Most Digital to Analog converter boxes are off-air ATSC only.pros:-demodulates clear QAM-picture quality is good-RF and baseband outputs-allows you to delete unwanted channels from the scan listcons:-poor remote control range, especially off-axis-user interface for deleting unwanted channels is painful to use-daylight savings feature doesn't work-audio level on RF output is undermodulated (volume is very low, so hum is a problem)-autoprogramming is very slow, about 20 minutes.

Works great!
I needed an external tuner to use my tunerless dvd recorder with my new TV that already had a built-in tuner. This little gadget works great! I had to try the different settings (ch 3, ch 4 or loop through) to find the one that worked with my setup, but once I found it, setting the TV to ch 4 and setting the tuner to ch 4 (just like an old time VCR) and then using autoscan, it started picking up channels right away! I did have to scan a couple of times to find all the channels I wanted, but it only took about fifteen minutes each time. The only reason I didn't rate it a 5 is because the user guide that comes with the product is pretty useless. It doesn't explain things clearly. But using the guide that came with the TV and the dvd recorder, I was able to figure things out. The programming guide and the channel selection list that saves favorites and skips channels not visited are great features!
