Works well if you use a good antenna
In theory when connected to a 145 foot long dipole (1/4 wave @ 1610) this transmitter will put off a signal strong enough to cover several city blocks. I say "in theory" because doing such a thing would (of course) be against FCC regulations, so I wouldn't recommend trying it.It's not the most stable thing in the world, but it does get the job done without drifting very much. I won't go so far as to say you can set it and forget it forever, but very seldom does it need adjusting. As with anything of this type the power supply and antenna are a very important part of getting the most out of it. A good ground helps too.Building it is a breeze for anyone that knows how to solder as the instructions are very clear. I'd even go so far as to say that you don't need a great deal of electronic knowledge to put this kit together.I'm pleasantly surprised at just how well this basic transmitter works. It's not just a "toy" at all, but rather quite... Top to learn more

Just one of many fine kits available from Ramsey
I have assembled several different kits from Ramsey and they all perform exactly as described. I used this to transmit from the audio output on a pc to a 1930's era Zenith radio I restored. Sound transmission is very clear. It was much cheaper that purchasing components separately to build a local transmitter myself. Top to learn more

Update: Adjustable Transmitter Power
Ordered on March 2nd and received on March 4th. Quick shipping! This FM transmitter makes the old saying that "dynamite comes in small packages" so. The signal coverage is awesome, set it up to broadcast an internet radio station, put it on a window ledge then jumped in my car and drove around the neighborhood, the signal only faded when I was about a mile from my house. This unit easily covered about a square mile with a clear STEREO signal. Update, I found on the net through reading about similar transmitters that the power output is actually adjustable. To adjust the power from .500 watt to .100 of a watt. Here's all you need to do: Push in and hold the power on button then plug in the power cord the LCD will read "H" by using the frequency up & down buttons you can switch to "L" then unplug the power cord, then plug it back in and power on and now your broadcasting at low power. I hope this info is useful. This gadget has really has made working in the yard & around the house a... Top to learn more

Great signal coverage but be careful - not Part 15 compliant!
I wanted to set up "whole home" audio around my house and yard. I didn't want some "toy" transmitter that goes 30 feet - I need a good signal out to a couple hundred feet. I ordered the Fail-Safe recently as it was on sale for $99.95. Though it was supposedly back-ordered a month away, I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived in about a week. I opened the package and was on-air within 5 minutes. It does everything it claims to do, and I am quite pleased. The unit is quite compact - not much bigger than a bar of bath soap. The Xmtr looks a lot like the HLLY units you can find online, and like the HLLY, this one is Chinese-made, despite Fail-Safe's claims of "American made." In truth, they are "American sold." These are generic transmitters mass-produced overseas sold by numerous companies around the globe. That being said, I still chose the Fail-Safe over the lower-cost HLLY and others due to the good reviews about Fail-Safe's tech support. Nice to know I can call... Top to learn more

Nice basic little transmitter
This is a nice basic little AM transmitter. I found that a scope is handy in making the final adjustments to it since the settings they suggest leave the audio a bit distorted. I was also getting 60 cycle hum in the transmitted audio from the provided, poorly filtered power supply(a standard plug-in supply like you'd get with most electronic devices). Top to learn more

A steal for the price
I just got this item a little while ago and must say it's one of the better purchases I've made in a while. My 2002 Jeep Wrangler only has a CD player, so for my brand new 32GB iPod Touch, it was either an FM transmitter or an overhauled dashboard. I opted for the much more lucrative of the two. I must say, I couldn't be happier with this product. Sure, you have to deal with signal interruptions as you pass through different towns with conflicting FM stations, but that's true of all FM transmitters. I am very pleased with the sound quality I am getting from this device with only a subtle hiss in the background when the music quiets (but this is probably caused by signal interference and not from the unit itself). I previously owned a cheapo $10 transmitter from ebay for my iPod Nano - this one is only a bit more expensive, but has infinitely better sound quality. As a previous reviewer mentioned, listening to music from your iPod with this device is very much like tuning to a... Top to learn more
Good value, FM transmitter better than others I've owned
This product is well worth the value. Installation is a snap (have to adjust it a bit to account for the gear shifter in my VW), the FM transmitter is powerful (does not lose clarity where other products I've owned did); however I do have to turn up the volume quite a bit on the radio, but it's not a deal-breaker.Before you buy, you might want to consider how it will fit in the space b/w the lighter jack and the gear shift.Nice to have: I do wish it came with a fixed base which I could slide the device into, instead of having to maneuver & plug in the charger cable every time I use it, but for $10.99, I can't complain. You get what you pay for
Pros:The transmitter works well. The antenna on my car was snapped off and I still get a clear signal. Also, The default signal was set at 88.1FM which is a french radio station in my area and the transmitter had no problem overpowering the french station. It grips my ipod touch nicely even when it's in its case. The flexible "neck" works well to locate the ipod where I want. The cigarette lighter plug keeps the whole thing firmly located.Cons:The blue lights are too bright. At night they create too much glare. I ended up putting a piece of electrical tape over the light. The readout of the station/frequency points straight up and the LCD display is only visible when looked at directly so if you want to look at it you have to lean way forward and look directly down at it.The remote only works for me if I hold it directly above the transmitter pointing down. Half the buttons on the remote don't... Top to learn more

HP Pavilion Notebook DV9917CL is this a good notebook for normal usage a college student would need ( word, researching, and surfing the net basically) , i am just a little bit afraid of buying it because i think it is an older series, i cant... There is a good article you can read if you want that reviews a number of really good headphones as well as some of the more budget models too. If you like bass you will love these phones they maybe alittle over emphasized in the bass region but I find them to be very detailed, musical, and enjoyable to listen to. They are also much more comfortable then the other models. I want to stick to a similar price range 150-200$ (including amp if needed) although i am willing to compromise a little if it is worth it. . answers: Hi. I’ve listened to allot of headphones, and own the Sennheiser Hd650′s. Yes they are a hundred dollars more but well worth it. As for the Sennheiser yes I love mine and they make a very nice headphone also very comfortable. As for amps, I don’t want to change batteries every 20+ hours, it doesn’t need to be portable, but it needs to be affordable and usable with an ipod and laptop. If you must use compressed sound files make sure you use the Apple loss-less in-code, decode compression, this comes reasonably close to cd quality. Some say they are good but then the hardcore audiophiles say that the bass is lacking and it seems a little flat. Not to mention that buying an amp would be preferable (especially for an ipod).
Okay well i just got a car recently and i have a fm transmitter for my ipod but when i play most of the songs they sound really terrible im thinking its the speakers (not shot just stock is all) so i’m wondering what are some decent speakers to... The sound is incredible and for what you would pay for upgrading the speakers, you can buy the radio and be done with it. Not only is the radio going to give a better signal all nearly for the CD’s, AM/FM, and IPOD, but it will control the IPOD as... Okay anyways, since I’m getting an ipod nano (with camera) for my birthday this June, I chose that I will wait til September when the ipod touch 4th generation comes out,and I’ll buy that. ) and I’m going to question for an ipod nano 5th generation, I’m asking for the nano for my birthday because I don’t reckon I could live lacking the FM radio with itunes tagging on it. I like that the it has the FM radio on it, and the video... 2- Do they sell like an FM transmitter with it so I can listen to the FM radio on it. How much do they cost. My suggestion is to go buy a radio with IPOD connectivity integrated into it. There are a ton for every budget and the sound is just like a CD. There are 2 basic types to look for. The second is the one of choice because you can control the IPOD through the car stereo and not have to be fumbling with the IPOD while driving. one is the type that has a plug that runs from your headphone productivity from your IPOD to the stereo, and the other is the kind that has a cable that connects to the charging port of the IPOD. 10- I was thinking the 16gb would be fantastic for me,but I wanna buy the 4th generation when it comes out this September, and they discontinued the 16gb, so what size must I get. ( I’ll have a job over the summer so that I will be able to afford to buy it) But first I have a couple ipod touch questions.
