A NEAT GADGET THAT REALLY WORKS!!!
This AM loop antenna does a remarkable job at its price point! It works by concentrating the radio station's signal and sharing it with your radio's built-in ferrite bar antenna through inductive coupling (no wire connections necessary). It can, however, be connected to a radio's external antenna terminals if your radio has no internal ferrite bar antenna. It works best with inductive coupling though. To use, tune to a very weak signal and rotate your radio alone for best reception. Then place the TERK next to your radio and adjust its tuner until you hear an increase in signal strength. Peak the signal by carefully adjusting the TERK's tuner control. Then experiment by moving the antenna around your radio until you get the best signal. Once the TERK has been positioned for best reception, there's no need to move it again when tuning in other stations. It will be necessary, however, to retune the antenna each time you change frequency on your radio. Some consider this to be a pain,...

Great AM Reception Day and Night!
This antenna is a best AM antenna for the baseball, news, GeorgeNoory(Coast to Coast AM) listener. Its also used by many AM radio DXers, beginner and experienced, and it also uses no power The TERK AM antenna is a best designed antenna, and TERK did it right this time, lets see if they can conquer the same with FM someday. I have had mine since 1999 , and does wonders for my AM on my Sony stereo system. I also use with it with the ATS-909 shortwave receiver for directional station listening, and get this if you are good at rotating antennas, you can carefully null out the local station, and bringin the other stations you can't receive before. Its similar to the other type called the select-A-tenna. It also covers 510 kHz to 1720 kHz, for dail tuners it takes patience to null andpeak, and to digital tuners its easy to peak up the currently received station. I hope you like this one, its better thanthe AM stereo antenna that was supplied with the...

Best AM Antenna I've ever used!
I'm a stickler for performance, and have high expectations for electronic equipment... especially when I hear fellow users raving about a certain product. After getting the Terk AM Advantage to use primarily with my CC Radio, I have to say I'm not dissappointed. Giving it 5 stars would be saying that it goes beyond my expectations. The 4 star rating means that it comes pretty damn close!Anyway, it does a fine job. The great thing, is that it can be used with ANY radio with or without external antenna terminals. I find it seems to work better without the hookup. Tuning the stations can be a bit tricky at times. The dial is slightly off and registers a station a few kHz higher than it is, and must be turned various ways near the radio to accurately do its job. It even seems to do quite well at being able to resist stronger signals that are adjecent to weaker ones. For the AM DX'er, or lover of good `ol AM radio in general, it's an answer to a prayer!

Professional user, very pleased
I work at an AM Radio station where we need to monitor another station for the Emergency Alert System. Prior to purchasing the Kaito AN200, we had a powered tunable antenna which regularly gave us problems. This antenna has worked flawlessly since we installed it and for the first time, we've been able to clearly listen to the distant station in the shadow of our own tower. As a radio professional, I can highly recommend this antenna.

Performs very well, especially for AM 'DXing'!
I'm a Ham Radio operator/enthusiast, and have been an avid AM 'DXer' for about 30 years now. So I know a thing or two when it comes to antennas. I bought the Kaito AN-200 to boost the AM reception on some of my smaller portable radios like the Kaito 1103, Radio Shack DX-399, Grundig G8, and Sangean ATS-818. The AN-200 works very well 'passively' (placing the AN-200 right up to and against the radios with no direct connection) with these radios, greatly enhancing signal strength and receivability of AM signals. Of course, with a direct connection (if your radio has an external antenna jack) to the AN-200, performance is even better. I was so impressed with how well this antenna works, I connected it directly to my higher-end Yaesu FRG-100 communications receiver so I could do some serious AM DXing. I am pulling in distant AM stations from over 500 to 1000 miles out (skip, not ground wave) with no problems. It should be noted that my radios and listening table are right underneath a...

Excellent antenna
I had a 100 foot long wire AM antenna previous to the Kaito, and it produced terrible interference and crosstalk on many stations. This Kaito antenna totally cured the problem. The stations come in without interference, and I am able to receive some stations that the long wire would not pull in. It's a minor inconvenience to have to rotate and tune the antenna for each station; the results are worth it. My only complaint is that the lead in wire is very short, about 3 feet. I extended it with a stereo headphone extension cable from Radio Shack, and it works fine, even with the extra length. If you're looking for an antenna to improve your AM radio reception, I would recommend that you try this one. It works better than I had hoped.

Product Description

The Kaito AN200 tunable indoor AM loop antenna can dramatically improve the reception on AM (Medium Wave) stations throughout the entire AM broadcasting band. This AM Antenna enhances reception as well as adds clarity to the ferrite AM antennas that are included with all home stereo receivers and portable radios. The AN200's loop design offers you the reception that normally would only be achieved with a very long wire hooked up directly to your radio. With the AN200, it will work on all portable radios without wires attached. The Kaito AN200 features a built-in tuning dial that allows precision tuning to the appropriate station and the selectivity to block out unwanted stations and noise; which without the antenna would crowd or "bleed" into the desired signal. The antenna can also be adjusted by physically turning the loop in the direction of the station's broadcasting and pointing it directly at the station. One of the best features of this antenna is the possibilities of using selective tuning, loop adjustment and radio dialing. The AN200 Loop Antenna will give you an added dimension to your AM radio by giving you better reception, clearer sound, better clarity of the stations you already get and enhancement of stations that would otherwise be drowned out. The Kaito AN200 AM Medium Wave Loop Antenna is a passive (NO power requirements) radiant device that works by either placing it next to the portable radio's internal AM rod antenna or by connecting it to larger desktop radios that have AM antenna terminals by using the included 1/8" to bare wire cable. Succeeded At Its Mission
I bought a wonderful Grundig s35 radio, which works wonderfully in my Los Angeles home, but which suffers in performance at work, a college, because of so much interference in the building. I bought the Terk antenna to see if I could get KPCC, a Pasadena station about thirty miles away. The Terk succeeded. Whereas without the Terk antenna I could barely get KPCC, about 10% clarity, with the antenna this often tough-to-get FM station now comes in with over 90% clarity. Also all the other stations, both FM and AM, are now much stronger and clearer. So I'm glad I bought the Terk. Finally, let me add that the hook up is easy. You just snap the attachment to the back of the radio. Finished.

Based on the common-sense notion that stereo owners want to listen to music, not static, Terk Technology's AM/FM+ antenna is an ideal fit for casual and intense music fans alike. The antenna, which connects to virtually any radio or receiver, captures a crisp, high-end signal that far surpasses those of in-the-box competitors. Most receivers and rack systems come with "T" wire dipole antennas for FM reception, which provide marginal reception at best and are highly susceptible to noise and interference. The AM/FM+, by contrast, is omnidirectional, meaning it receives signals equally from all directions to ensure topnotch reception wherever your equipment is located. In addition, the device incorporates specialized noise-reducing elements to trim static to an absolute minimum, so listeners can enjoy clear signals from as many stations as are within range.

The AM/FM+ is simple to connect and use--just plug it into your radio or receiver and you're set. The device comes complete with matching transformers for 75 ohm and 300 ohm antenna inputs. In addition, the AM/FM+'s compact design blends with almost any décor. Listeners have the option of placing the antenna on or next to a component or mounting it on the wall. The latter option not only offers a unique look, but it may improve reception as well. It also separates the antenna from other audio components and electronics, which may reduce noise and interference.

Decent, good looking antenna
This is a passive antenna that receives radio signals over a pretty broad range of directions simultaneously, so while it won't let you receive stations hundreds of miles away, it is a nice step up from the ugly wires and loops that come with most stereos today -- especially in the aesthetics department. Performance does seem a little better; I expect some of this is due to the fact that you can more reliably 'aim' something this size rather than those long wires that you normally get.

Good looking (at least as far as antennas go) and works well
This antenna is much better looking than a wire antenna and does a very good job of being an antenna too. I get excellent reception with it. My only quibble is that there is small slot in the plastic where you can run the antenna wires through to route them out the back. This little slot is wide enough for the AM wire, but is not wide enough to accommodate the FM wire so you have to run it out the side and then back. Not a major problem, but you have to wonder how they could make such a mistake. If not for that this would definitely be a 5 star product as it is reasonably priced, looks good (better than in the picture here, which makes it appear huge - it isn't big at all) and works great!

It works...
This budget-priced indoor antenna unit does the job. I received all the local HD channels available in my area with minimal adjustments to the antenna positioning. The coaxial cable is part of the unit and cannot be removed. The cable itself is rather skinny. That being said, the unit performs, flawlessly.I have the unit placed behind my 42" plasma with the antenna extended and hidden from view. The location of my flatscreen is top-floor of a house and about five feet from the window. I also used this unit in my bedroom and it worked, flawlessly.I think the location of your home (relative to the broadcast towers) and positioning of the unit is what matters. Not the brand or price of the indoor antenna unit.

This Is All You Need
I just replaced a significantly more expensive Terk HDTVi indoor antenna with this simple and inexpensive RCA antenna. The Terk looked great, but had such a poorly designed base that it was nearly impossible to balance and position-I'll be sending that one back to Amazaon. I went over to my local Best Buy and found this unit, hooked it up-wala; picked up significantly MORE HD stations and this unit is stable and easy to position and move around (which is the objective in maneuvering for best reception). I'd highly recommend this unit-as far as I am concerned it does what it's supposed to do, easily outperforms (at least in my case) more expensive indoor antennas, and is just a great darn value!

works like it should
Just as good as any other antenna I've tried. Its not worth it to buy the more expensive ones, they all work the same. The SIGNAL STRENGTH NEVER CHANGES, that is controlled by the tower location and your location. All you can do is get a bigger antenna!!.So I got two of these, pointed them different directions, now I get all the channels I should without having to adjust (very much) the dipoles.

Buy Am Antenna

In fact, I got an indoor HD antenna from Best Buy to try it out and then returned it. It worked fine, except that as an Oakland resident, it didn’t pick up the San Jose-based NBC affiliate. On Saturday I installed an old, $30 Radio Shack antenna on my roof, roughly pointed it towards San Francisco, and it blew my mind when the channel scan came up with 84 channels - and I haven’t seen a single glitch all weekend.  It allows you to stream anything from your Mac screen to you TV via Apple TV.  Yes, I know they say this will be part of the new OS due out at the end of summer, but I thought the ten bucks now was worth it.  Any content whether audio of video... To do that, I’ll likely need an amplified outdoor antenna. Tip 1: Several readers said that even after they “cut” cable service, they continued to receive the basic signal if they still had broadband service. 99 a month, I now get 99% of what my DirecTV did, including the dual-tuner HD DVR and program guide, plus it has all the Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, apps built in (you still have to pay for service). Here’s one sample comment from reader Jeff Sprague: “I was paying around $75 a month for DirecTV HD+DVR service and 99% of what I watched on it was local channels. Basically, they say if I just hook up the cable directly to the TV, the basic cable stations should still be there. One readers describes it as “ n app for my Mac for about ten bucks called “AirParrot” (airparrot. While I said one downside was not being able to watch AMC shows like Mad Men and The Killing, several readers noted, of course, that I can pay to download episodes from iTunes and Amazon. There are some news apps on the TV, including ones from the Associated Press and the Wall Street Journal, but neither seems very useful. ” This sounds a bit like the mirroring/AirPlay function that comes with Apple TV, but if you don’t have that, this might be an interesting option. It’s every bit as convenient as satellite TV, with even more features (home networking, iTunes access, mobile device access).

  • Coyote set to return this week

While the talk radio was popular in the valley, Kauffman said there are no immediate plans to bring an AM station. This morning Kauffman said he would be at the site installing the antenna to get it ready for broadcast by this afternoon.

  • An Analyst's Ad Hominem Hell

Ironically, it's an Apple product. SlashGear's Chris Burns takes me to task in what he promotes as a point-to-point rebuttal but in reality is a poorly veiled ad hominem attack. Don't get me wrong -- ad hominem attacks can be very effective.

  • Opinion: Why does everyone pick on Apple products?

Part of that is likely because you don't typically hold a laptop. But there are other examples of Apple catching an especially hard break, like Antenna Gate. The same issue existed in other products at the time, yet generally didn't get much ink. Why?
